New Home for SLU’s SABM: A Serene, Eco-Friendly Environment
The School of Accountancy and
Business Management (SABM) of Saint Louis University (SLU), Baguio City was relocated to their new Maryheights Campus, Bakakeng, Baguio City this first semester, SY2010-2011. The more than 6- hectare campus, which is about 6 kilometers from the Central Business District of Baguio is surrounded by pine trees, creating a serene, unpolluted, quiet, cool, and very conducive place for study. The new 10-storey Devesse Building, the academic building of the School of Accountancy and Business Management (SABM) of The new 10-storey academic Saint Louis University at the Maryheights Campus, Bakakeng, building, called the Devesse Building, Baguio City. is home to the more than 8,400 students of BS Accountancy, BS Management Accounting, BS Hospitality and Tourism Management, BS Business Administration and BS Entrepreneurship. It is also home of the satellite offices of the University President, Student Affairs Office, Medical and Dental Clinics, Guidance Center, Registrar’s Office, Accounting Office, NET Office, MIS, Parish Office, among others. The Devesse building, named after the Belgian founder of Saint Louis University, Fr. Seraphin Henri Joseph Devesse, is equipped with a sprawling Plaza, about 85 classrooms, 3 elevators, a 350-capacity Audio Visual Room, a 50-capacity mini-AVR, 4 Computer Laboratories, a Library with mezzanine reading areas that include more than 10,000 volumes of books, reference materials, and journals, Internet Library, Prayer Room, 3 Culinary Arts and 1 Baking Laboratories, a Mock 5-Star Hotel Suite, Travel and Tour Agency, Front Office, Banquet and Catering Lab., Food and Beverage Lab, Demonstration room, 2 Canteens, and Crockery. Inside the campus are Students’ Residence Halls that could accommodate more than 300 male and female student-boarders. On-going major construction works in Maryheights Campus include the oval/playgrounds, and the amphitheater. Among the future plans include the construction of a covered court, a Chapel, and a mini park where kiosks will be located. Saint Louis University, among the 1st batch of HEIs granted Autonomous Status by the Commission on Higher Education, is the biggest University north of Manila with 27,951 college enrollees this 1st semester of SY2010-2011. The School of Accountancy and Business Management is Level III PAASCU accredited. The School, which is either 2nd or 3rd Best Performing School in the CPA Board Licensure Examinations in Category A, has already produced three 1st placers since 1987, with 5 CPA board placers during that last 4 years.
