Eid and Christmas.

Most of the people believe that the second Eid in the Islamic calendar is is celebrated

only in Hajj pilgrimage not knowing that you should also sacrifice a goat to celebrate

appropriately. During Eid none us would go to school or work, we all celebrate as a family.

Christmas is a holiday that refers to the birth of Christ whom Christians believe is the son of

God. Eid holidays are significantly different than Christmas holidays.

Although Eid and Christmas are both holidays, both are celebrated at different times.

There are two Eids celebrated in a year which are Eid Ul Adha and Eid Ul Fitr. Both the Eids are

celebrated in the months of July and September. Christmas is celebrated 25th December.

Muslims celebrate Eid after the month of Ramadan while Christmas is celebrated in the last

month of the year. Unlike Eid, christmas is celebrated once in a year.

Eid and Christmas have different places of celebration. Eid is celebrated in the mosque

while Christmas is celebrated at home or in church. Muslims usually pray in the mosque

gathering while standing, and Christians celebrate at home on December 25th while others prefer

praying in church. Eid is celebrated either with neighbours or family while Christmas is

celebrated with families. Unlike Muslims, Christians prefer celebrating at home rather than at

church.

The other difference about the two holidays is that they both have different songs. The

song sang during Eid prayers is called Salatul Eid which is usually recited by a sheikh who leads

the prayers in mosque. People also sing songs during Christmas, some songs are hymns such as

church songs, popular songs like Jingle bell, and other cultural songs. The difference between the

two holidays songs are the way they are sung and where they are sung.
Praying, going to mosque, and slaughtering animals are conditions that are a must while

celebrating Eid. These are some of the rules that make Eid different from Christmas. In contrast,

Eid and Christmas are totally different because of the times celebrated, songs sang, and places

celebrated. Even though the two holidays are celebrated differently, the similarity between them

is that they are both religious holidays.
