ABSTRACT
Teens are experiencing tattoos trend as part of their appearance. Tattoo users view
tattoos as an art that has meaning and as problem release. Health problems are
considerations to think about before making a tattoo; tattoos risk of generating and
transmitting the disease if it is not healthy and hygienic. This research is to determine
the perception of tattoos on teens. This research is descriptive qualitative research.
The informants are 6 teenagers with tattoos and 1 person with no tattoos. Data were
collected by in-depth interviews and focus group discussions. The research
instruments were a researcher, a tape recorder and body movements record. The
interactive model data analysis was Miles and Huberman. The data validity testing
was triangulation. Informants aged 21-25 years, male gender, Islam religion,
Javanese, senior high school education, unemployed, have 1-5 tattoo image, located
on the arm, a favorite place on the back. Tattooed teens motivated by ideals, family
problems and environmental influences. Teens know the risks to health, has
experienced some effects such as irritation, allergies and itching. Tattoos treated using
baby oil, first check the tool used.
