Preparation
Dissolve 89,53 grams of the medium in one liter of distilled water. Heat with frequent agitation for one minute. Do not
STERILIZE IN autoclave. Cool to 45C. Add the supplements as required.:Add 20 ml of a solution of 20 g of iodine,
and 25 g of potassium iodide / in 100 ml of distilled water.

Uses
Muller-Kauffmann Broth Base with Brilliant Green & Novobiocine is recommended by the ISO 6579:2002 norm to
be used a selective enrichment broth of Salmonella spp. Calcium carbonate is a neutralizer which absorbs toxic
metabolites. The Bile Salts and the Brilliant Green inhibit gram positive, and most gram negative, bacterial growth
Microorganisms with tetrathionate reductase enzyme will grow and multiply in this medium.

MICROBIOLOGICAL TEST
The following results were obtained in the performance of the medium from type cultures after incubation at a temperature
of 37 1 C, and observed after 24 3 hours.
