Subject: Capstone Project

Hello,

For those of you that are not aware, I am supervising Jennifer Beaver,
manager of our CRR program in Chester County, for her Capstone project for
her Masters Degree in Human Service. After reviewing options with Jerry,
we have chosen for her Capstone to re-examine the History of Challenging
Behaviors. Our efforts will be to create a document that can be scored and
will be reliable and valid in measuring an individuals challenging and risky
behavior to determine if we can support this individual and what additional
resources we may require. We recognize that, due to the time constraints of
the project, we will not be able to determine the reliability or validity of this
assessment. Our focus will be on creating a document that will be used for
this purpose.

Thus far, we have utilized the DLA-20 to create the framework of the Global
Inventory of Challenging and Risky Behaviors. We have also created a
scoring matrix similar to the DLA-20. Both of these documents are
attached. Our next step is to meet with representatives from each region
that utilizes the History of Challenging Behaviors to review the domains and
risk areas we have identified and to further develop and review the
assessment. This will include the development a consistent scale that will
range from absence of risk with no additional interventions or staffing
required up to a continuous presence of risk and significant changes needed
in interventions and staffing. Finally, we will develop a defined scoring table
that would be used to determine the level of overall risk the challenging
behavior poses for the individual, staff and the community.

If you are interested in participating in this project, we are requesting that

you provide the name of a representative to be part of this team. I suspect
that this project will require a couple of face-to-face meetings, but I am
hopeful that most of the work can be completed via telephone and e-mail.
Please forward names of any staff that will be participating in this effort to
me and Jennifer Beaver to schedule the initial meeting.

Thank you for helping with this project and we are hopeful this project will be
successful.

Andrew,
This is great. I would love to see both Crisis Residential programs participate.
Charlene Stregles is the Director for the Montco program and Jennifer Amaral for the
Lehigh program. I would also be interested in participating as well as having our QI
Manger David Poyser

Thanks
Cathy
