Ishqbaaaz (English: Lovers) is an Indian drama television series which is broadc
ast on Star Plus. It premiered on 27 June 2016 and airs Monday to Friday at 10:0
0 PM IST. Nakuul Mehta, Kunal Jaisingh and Leenesh Mattoo respectively portray S
hivaay, Omkara and Rudra, the three heirs of the Oberoi family.[1][2][3][4][5] T
he show initially focused on the tale of three brothers, later become centered o
n the love story of Shivaay and Annika (Surbhi Chandna); with the story of Omkar
a and Rudra being shifted to the spinoff series Dil Boley Oberoi.[6][7]

The story is about the lives of a rich business family in Mumbai, the Oberoi fam
ily who face difficult and challenging situations from time to time. Kalyani Obe
roi is the matriarch of the family who resides in Oberoi mansion with her two so
ns and their family. The elder brother Tej has a wife, Jhanvi who has a drinking
addiction because of Tej's illicit affair with his secretary, Svetlana. Tej and
Jhanvi have three children. Their elder son is Omkara, a sculptor and a self ma
de billionaire who also has a history of drug use. He is an understanding person
and hates his father. He was also involved a relationship with a girl named Rid
dhima but broke up with her later on. Tej and Jhanvi's second child, Rudra, is a
flirtatious guy and a playboy who is a fitness freak and loves partying and wom
en, however, he does not believe in the concept of marriage. He is very friendly
in nature. They also have a daughter, Priyanka whom everyone calls 'Prinku'. Sh
e is a quiet and simple girl who gets nervous really easily because of her socia
l anxiety disorder but gets involved with her opposite; the brash ACP Ranveer. T
ej has a younger brother, Shakti who is married to Pinky. They have one son, Shi
vaay, who is the eldest son and the face of the Oberoi's industry. He is a busin
ess tycoon with a strict personality that matches his uncle, Tej. He is arrogant
, snobbish and judges people on the basis of their lineage and social status, ra
ther than their personality or work. He does not believe in love but got engaged
to Tia Kapoor because of her high class and status. Shivaay has a sense of loya
lty towards his family name. Both, Tej and Pinky, want their respective sons to
inherit the business and thus end up fighting each other. Even after everything
the three cousins share an unusually strong bond with each other.
Shivaay comes across a middle-class girl, Annika who manages a catering business
to support Sahil, her young adoptive brother, who needs crutches to walk. Sahil
and Annika have a fat, evil aunt Sundari who cares about nothing but money. Shi
vay and Annika are always engaged in cat fights because of their differences in
opinions and class. Annika is called up by Dadi to be wedding planner of Shivaay
's marriage with his fianc, Tia and therefore stays at the Oberoi's mansion all t
hrough the day. In a series of events Annika and Shivaay keep fighting but helpi
ng each other, especially Annika saving the Oberoi family members from several a
ttacks by enemies and Hence starts their passionate often tumultuous love story.
Annika's psycopath ex-fiance Daksh, appears in their life because of whom Shivaa
y thinks of Annika as a gold digger. As the story progresses, Shivaay forces Ani
ka to marry him when Tia goes missing on the wedding day. Tia returns the follow
ing day under the pretext of getting kidnapped and Shivaay presents her as his w
ife in front of the media instead of Annika. Daksh kidnaps Annika but Shivaay ma
nages to save her from him. He finds out that Daksh was feeding him lies the who
le time. When the truth comes out Annika and Shivaay come closer but Tia announc
es her pregnancy. Shivaay and Annika along with Omkara and Rudra try to prove th
at the child is not Shivaay's however, they are unsuccessful twice. Later, Annik
a falls from the stairs and suffers a memory loss. She forces Shivaay to marry T
ia for the sake of their child. Later during the wedding, Tia's husband, Robin a
rrives whom Tia thought was dead the whole time. Annika finds Robin who was reve
aled to be hidden by Tia's mother. The truth of the Kapoor's evil plan comes out
in the end thus exposing her and her family as Shivaay reveals that Annika's me
mory loss was a plan that was laid by himself, Annika and Omkara and Rudra. Priy
anka is set to marry ACP Ranveer. During one of the pre-wedding functions, after
a variety of events, Shivaay accepts that Annika as his wife in front of his fa
mily and the media.
