It is with great pleasure that I present my application for the Digital Learning Facilitator/Testing Coordinator position. I am confident that my work in the field of education and my enthusiasm for integrating technology into the curriculum will make me a valuable member of Northwood High Schools and Chatham Countys teams.
Im excited about this position because I have enjoyed incorporating a variety of technology into daily instruction during my time as a middle school and high school math teacher. One example of this is my teacher webpage which is integral to the smooth running of my classroom. On my webpage, students and parents can find a calendar outlining daily lesson plans, links to important class files, and resources for students who need additional help. Because I have had the privilege of being in 1:1 schools since I started teaching, student laptops have become an integral part of my daily instruction. Each day I provide students with the opportunity to brainstorm, visualize patterns and groupings, and/or reflect on their learning through a variety of digital platforms.
Along with incorporating technology into my own classroom, I have had many opportunities to assist other teachers with implementing digital resources. In college, in order to receive honors credit for my instructional technology course, I taught a lesson to my peers on using GPS devices in classrooms. In 2015, I attended the North Carolina Technology in Education Society (NCTIES) conference where I shared my use of a caching system called URcast. I helped other teachers brainstorm ways they could use this software in their classroom, as well as helped administrators think through the logistics of implementing the resource in their schools. In addition to this, I am regularly sought out by coworkers to help them use technology in improve their efficiency. For example, I have helped teachers create Google Forms for assessments and presentation rubrics, organize their email, set up document cameras, scan files to their email and flash drives, connect to video conferences, and learn various other digital skills. I feel these experiences have prepared me to lead a Digital Learning Team at Northwood and to collaborate with other Digital Learning Facilitators throughout the county.
Another quality I possess is my commitment to improving my knowledgebase of technology integration. I am a Google Certified Educator- Level 2, and I am working on my application for Google Certified Trainer status. Throughout the school year I participate in extracurricular Twitter chats with other educational technology enthusiasts on implementation strategies and best practices. This summer I will attend the annual International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) conference. In the coming year I also plan to begin my Master of Science degree in Digital Learning and Teaching, and obtain an 077 technology specialist license.
I hope to continue growing as a digital integration leader through working with the staff at Northwood High School and the Chatham County Digital Learning Team. I welcome the opportunity to meet with you to discuss my background in technology integration as described here, as well as my experience as a testing coordinator in the Office of Accessibility at the University of Toledo as described in my resume. I believe this unique combination of work experiences makes me an ideal candidate for the roll of Digital Learning Facilitator/Testing Coordinator. Thank you for your consideration.
