5. Differentiate between prokaryotic and eukaryotic cells.
6. Discuss the unique properties of cell membranes.
7. Describe the nucleus and its contents.
8. What is the function of ribosomes. Where are the subunits of ribosomes synthesized? What
important enzyme do they contain?
9. Compare the structure and functions of rough ER and smooth ER.
10. Describe the structure and functions of Golgi apparatus.
11. What is the relationship between Golgi and ER?
12. From where do lysosomes arise? Describe how lysosomes work.
14. Describe the structure and function of peroxisomes.
15. Describe a function of peroxisomes in human liver and kidney cells.
16. Differentiate between vacuoles and vesicles. What are some roles of vacuoles?
17. What is the function of a mitochondria? Make a simple drawing to illustrate the parts of a
mitochondria. Label it.
19. Make a simple drawing that illustrates the parts of a choloroplast. Label it.
Include the following: outer membrane; grana; stroma; thylakoids.
21. Describe the function of the cytoskeleton.
22. Briefly, distinguish between the three mian components of the cytoskeleton.
23. What is the relationship between microtubules and centrosomes?
24. Describe the structure of centriole. In the cells of which kingdom are they generally most
often found?:
25. Compare and contrast cilia and eukaryotic flagella. Explain the difference between
eukaryotic and prokaryotic flagella. Describe 9(2)+2 arrangement.
27. Describe the structure and composition of cell walls.
28. Describe the different types of cell junctions.

Chapter 7 Diffusion and Osmosis!
1. Describe the fluid mosaic model of the cell membrane. This is not a short answer questions!
2. What are all the different types of passive transport?
3. What is osmosis?
4. Explain hyper, hypo and iso- tonic.

chromatids, DNA, and histones. Draw and label a diagram of a chromosome prior to cell
division.

4. What is the purpose of mitosis?
5. List the stages of mitosis and summarize the events in each phase. REVIEW YOUR
CHART!!!!
6. What is the structure and function of the mitotic spindle?
7. Ask yourself numbers questions. How many csomes in G1 phase? How many sister
chromatids are in S2? There is x times the DNA content in a cell in ____ phase vs. ___ phase,
etc.
