HMS EVO
Swim-Cleer System
Technical Sheet
Culligan HMS EVO pool filters are "filtering mass" type filters that utilize the exclusive Culligan "Filtr-Cleer"
method. This is a system that uses three (Multi Media) layers of filtering minerals of different grain size and
specific weights, with grain sizes decreasing from top to bottom. The HMS EVO models have a bottom radial
distributor.
The unfiltered water flowing downward through the filtering layers gradually releases its turbidity all over the
filtering mass, enabling a high rate of filtration due to the low pressure losses. The removal of turbidity and
solids in suspension, which are also an obstacle to disinfection of the water, is based on the chemical and
physical principle of spontaneous flocculation".
HMS EVO filters ensure operation, alternating the specific phases of:
SERVICE (filtration of water)
BACKWASH (of filtering layers).
(*) rinse (of filtering layers).
(*) recirculation (filter bypass. The water is recirculated without entering the filter).
(*) drain (filter bypass. The water is run directly to the drain without entering the filter. Usable to empty the
pool).
(*) only for semi-automatic models HMS EVO M.

The results obtained with HMS EVO filters, based on the "Filtr-Cleer" method, are essentially:
high removal of turbidity (3-4 times that obtainable on average with conventional filters)
excellent quality of filtered water (retention of > 5-micron particles)
reduced backwash (about 50% less, per volume of water and time used, than conventional filters).

OPERATING LIMITS
Automatic and semi-automatic models
Water pressure: min. 1 max. 2.5 bar.
Water temperature: min. 5 max 40C.

(*) for automatic models only; necessary for feeding the pilot solenoid valve and the pneumatic actuators of the
automatic filter valves.

ATTENTION: For all HMS EVO automatic models, if it is decided to feed the pilot solenoid valve with mains water, to
ensure the correct operation of the valve and the filter, fit a Culligan Filtr-Gard mechanical filter with 5 filter rating
upstream of the feed.

INSTRUCTIONS

Refer to the technical manual supplied with the system for all information and instructions.
Installation must be carried out by qualified personnel, in compliance with Min. Decree 37/08, the
best state of the art and according to that given in the technical manual.
All system handling, installation, maintenance and repair operations must be carried out by qualified
personnel, in compliance with Min. Decree 37/08, the best state of the art and according to that given in the
technical manual.
The place where the systems are located, the accessory material and consumable products must comply
with the current regulations on storage, use and safety.
The water produced by each device must only be used for its specifically intended purpose. Culligan
declines any liability for the consequences of improper use of the water produced by its equipment.
Any anomaly in the operation of the systems must be promptly reported to the Culligan Service Center.
Culligan declines any liability for the consequences of prolonged use of a clearly faulty system.
Where necessary, the selection, dosage and handling of chemicals must be done by qualified personnel, in
compliance with Culligan instructions and the Safety Data Sheets.
The disposal of consumable or waste material from the water treatment systems must occur in compliance
with the current regulations.
Do not place the device on top of other electrical appliances.
Position the device away from heat sources.
In case of an anomaly (water leaks, etc.), disconnect the power supply and turn off the water inlet shutoff
valve.
Culligan also declines any liability in the following specific cases:
improper use of the device;
use contrary to the specific national regulations (power and water supplies, installation and
maintenance);
installation done without following the instructions provided in this manual;
power and water supply faults (electrical discharges voltage rushes water supply overpressure
low water pressure);
unsuitable ambient operating temperature;
inadequate maintenance;
unauthorized work or modifications;
tampering;
use of non-original replacement parts or not specific for the model;
total or partial non-compliance with the instructions;
For that not expressly specified, the operator must use common sense when using the device
