WILLYOUVOTE???
Howhaswhatyoulearnedinthisclassimpactedyourdecisiontovote
ornot?

I would definitely still vote because not only is it my right to vote but I need to voice my
opinion even if Im a such a small fraction, that small fraction could make a big difference in our
community. While we began to learn about our civic right to vote, I always knew we, 18+
people, had the right to vote but I never knew the whole history behind it. This year, I learned for
voting it went: white men who owned property, then all white men, then black men, then women,
then 18+ youth.
Having all the debates we had this year definitely made me question both sides to this
questions. I say this because I know for a fact I will always vote for the candidate that I feel is
best fit for president, even if I dont have a favorite. However, I feel like me being in a state
that is mostly democrat state but we dont have as many electoral votes as Florida, New York, or
Texas, so I would most likely be less likely to make the effort to vote.
Overall in civics, my knowledge of my natural human rights and my knowledge of the
history behind America has been put in a complete different perspective because I now know
that process of how everything actually happened and I was able to eliminate the myths of what I
thought in the beginning. Having this class as an option for history is great because not only are
you learning about the history of your country and your rights but you are learning different
skills like how to do different parts of debates and not being afraid to questions any laws.
