Equipment Specifications & Features:
These type of samplers are one of the best 16-bit samplers ever made. They are known as
S-series samplers. Also these samplers as great because they are like synths.

The MOTU 1224 is a digital audio interface that is fire wire based. It has eight channels
with 1/4" TRS inputs and outputs, as well as word clock in and out, an AES/EBU input and
output, and XLR outputs for your monitors. It also has a 1/4" headphone output on the
front. This all fits in a single size rack mountable unit.

The Filter Factory is a stand-alone 2-unit rack module stereo/mono analog filter. Use it to
filter drum loops, synth arpeggiations, vocal tracks or entire mixes! It features notch, low-,
high- and band-pass filtering modes. It functions as a stereo filter with a 2-pole slope, or in
mono with a 4-pole slope. Big fat knobs allow hands on real-time tweaking of the
Frequency Cutoff, Resonance, LFO Depth and Speed, Distortion and more. Plus it's totally
MIDI equipped for recording, triggering and sequencing tweaks of the various parameters.
Features:
Three Headphone Outputs per Channel (One Front Panel and Two Rear Panel Outputs)
Auxiliary Input with Balance Control provides four Channels of "More Me" Mixing
10 - Samson Power Strip PS11 - Power distribution system with ac line noise and
surge suppression. (Turn this on to make all of these plugin turn on):

synthmania. (03/08/2014).
The two uses of a channel are recording and playback. (The top fader are for recording
and the bottom faders are for playback).
Furthermore on the left there are 24 faders and on the right there are 12 faders. The top
section of the pot is for changing the gain and the bottom section of the pot is for changing
the volume level.

Also on the mixing desk press the line button, so the mixing desk knows that it is a line and
not a microphone.
Phase Cancellation, for example, if you where to record a snare you would has two
microphones. (One at the top and the other at the bottom), the top microphone will go up
in waveform and the bottom microphone will go down in waveform). So to stop this press
the phase button and this will make both microphones go up in waveform.
Also this will make the waveform the same or similar for both microphones.
Low Cut - This cuts the frequencies from 100 Hz (the lower frequencies).
Noise Gate (Dynamics) - Threshold and compression. It tell the sound how to open and
close. Also, how to start and end.

Group input 1 is connected to input 1 in logic, etc.
Aux sends may be used for two different purposes: to send signals to an external
processor or to send signals to a separate monitor mix for the musicians onstage. Pre-
fader aux sends are generally used for the monitor mix, because the channel faders don't
affect the signals sent from the aux sends. Any adjustments made to the front-of-the-house
mix don't affect the balance heard by the performers onstage.
Post-fader aux sends are generally used for connecting external effects or dynamics
processors--the signal is sent to the processor from an aux send and reenters the mixer
through an aux return. Each channel has its own aux send control, so you can adjust the
amount of processing. The effected signal will be raised or lowered by the channel fader.
Channel fader = solo, cut (mute) and master mute (M1, M2, M3 and M4). For example, M1
= Drums, press M1 on all of the Drum channels than on the other side press M1 to mute
all of the Drums and not the other instruments on the other master mute channels.
Sound Mixers: Auxiliary Channels. Most sound desks include one or more auxiliary
channels (often referred to as aux channels for short). This feature allows you to send a
secondary feed of an input channel's audio signal to another destination, independent of
the channel's main output.
Useful information:
BNCE = BOUNCE
24 outputs per mix.
The Live Rooms:
There are two live rooms, one near Studio A and the other one is near Studio B (see first
diagram - Studio Plan).

How do you undertake a basic recording (group outputs, soundcard and audio
interface inputs) and How do you route signal to the computer?
The inputs at the top of the patch bay and the outputs are at the bottom of the patch bay.
Furthermore the first 8 sound cards are known as group inputs (Group input 1 (input 1)
pan to the left).
Each channel has 7 connections, which are: Linin (Line In) - line
level source, INSSND - Insert Send
(Plugins), INSRET - Insert Return
(Plugins).

MON - Monitor (Monitor Input): On the right side of the patch bay
are the connections to the effects. So this means that the left side
of the patch any are the connections to the channels.
tblackwell. (27/05/2012).

As you can see from the diagram above the patch bay is broken into sections, which are:
Mic Line Outs, Pre-Amp Out, Apogee Symphony Ins, Pre-Amp In, Apogee Symphony
Outs, Pre-Amp Out, Mains, Out Board Gear In, Out Board Gear Out and finally Pre-Amp
In. (Apogee - the highest point in the development of something; a climax or culmination).
If you remember these sections than you will remember the patch bay. However different
mixing desks will be different as it depends on what outboard equipment you have and
how you have set them up with the other things.
What is a DI Recording?
Musical "outboard equipment" or "gear" is used to alter how a musical instrument sounds.
Outboard, (external effects units) can be used either during a live performance or in the
recording studio. These are separate from the effects that may be applied by using a
mixing console or a digital audio workstation. (See the first half of this manual for more
details about the separate outboard equipment).
BY: KATIE MORGAN
How do you spread your recording across the mixing desk?
Match the inputs/outputs on the mixing desk with the ones on Logic, for example, input 1/
output 1 in Logic is input 1/ output 1 on the mixing desk. This is also the case for the patch
bay, which will be on input 1/ output 1 like Logic and the mixing desk.
dictionary.com. (2005).
Its simple! Add an audio track via Logic, then record the mixer output and finally bounce.
