Definition
Tooth that has failed to erupt completely or partially to its correct position in the dental arch and its eruption
potential has been lost.
A completely/partially unerupted tooth positioned against a physical such as another tooth, bone/soft tissue, so
that its further eruption is unlikely even beyond its normal chronological age of eruption.
Peterson: A tooth is considered to be impacted when it has failed to fully erupt in the oral cavity within its
expected developmental time period and can no longer do so.
