Brgy. Tinajeros Health Center Malabon City

July 8, 2010

This is the first day of our six days duty at Tinajeros, Malabon Health
Center. First, we went in the city office of Malabon so that we will be familiar
with the place and be able to introduce ourselves to the city health officers.

I am so excited because this is our first duty in school year 2010-2011.

We are supervised by our beloved professor, Ma’am Marilou R. Manuel.

I am glad that we are first exposed in a Health Center, because I already had
an experience having my duty in this setting. I know that this duty will be
easier for us having that background. The only difference now, is that we are
now going to inject a tetanus toxoid to pregnant women. We weren’t able to
do that before because we haven’t had our capping yet. And it makes us all
nervous but excited!

I hope that we can stay longer here to learn more!

July 9, 2010

This is the second day of our duty for the week. Yesterday, we got
home early because we are still fixing the Memorandum of Agreement papers
that will be given to the barangay office. So it means that today is really our
first day to duty.

The patients are not that many because there is no doctor today. The
health center is just open for giving medication for “Tutok-gamutan”, Fast
Blood Sugar and getting of Cholesterol level.

So when there is no more patient, Ma’am Malou decided to practice us

in our skill in parenteral administration of medication, specifically in
Intramuscular route. I am the patient of Kathleen Arbitrario and Maricris
Agustin. And I am the one to inject Ligaya Bagon. It feels so great when we
did our job well. I still want to practice more because I believe that it will
make me a better nurse someday. I have also introduced to my groupmates
on how to do patient history taking and obstetrics history taking. I am able to
impart my knowledge about the important things to ask and know about the
patient.

I hope that we can practice more!

July 10, 2010

His is the last day of our duty for this week. There is no health center
consultation for today because it is close during weekends. That is why we
decided to stay at the campus of St. Jude College to make our visual aids for
our health teaching and to do our dry run.

We practiced on how we could make our topics interesting for next

week. I am the one to report about PRENATAL CARES ERVICE and TETANUS
TOXOID and their importance to the mother and her child. Some of my group
mates had discussed about BREASTFEEDING, some had discussed about
FAMILY PLANNING, and some had discussed about HYPERTENSION and
DIABETES MELLITUS. Ma’am Malou corrected some of our mistakes so that it
will be better

I hope that our health teaching will be successful!

Brgy. Tinajeros Health Center Malabon City

July 15, 2010

This is the first day of our second week duty in Tinajeros, Malabon. I
know that this day will be toxic because we are informed that lots of patients
will come today. It is because there is a Doctor and its prenatal check up
today. This is the day wherein we will be going to inject tetanus toxoid to
pregnant women. I am excited and feel nervous too. I hope that it will be
successful and that I will avoid mistakes in injecting.

I am designated to assist Dra. Purita Javier and I was able to do my job

properly. I was also able to get the fundic height of a 6 months old pregnant
mother and gave her shot of tetanus toxoid. It feels so good.

This is the second day of second week here at the health center. We
thought that we will just stay at the campus because our clinical instructors
have their meeting. So we decided to go there at 8 am and wear a campus
uniform. But then sudden changes happen, the meeting is cancelled and we
are about to do our duty for today even though we are not wearing our
clinical uniform. We immediately go there and start working. We adjust with
that situation and understand and realize that nurses are flexible. The works
are easier today than yesterday. There are few patients coming there. In the
afternoon, pink lady ate Nida conducted the new program of Tessie Oreta,
which is the feeding program for malnourished children. But only one family
came, so we also got the chance to eat the champorado and palitaw they
made and it is so delicious!

July 17, 2010

This is the last day of our duty in Tinajeros. The Health center is close
today so we are about to do community health teaching rather. We are
guided by barangay drivers in going to the streets where the pregnant
women live. We visited this pregnant women because they are not anymore
going to center and do their regular check ups. We are going to teach them
the importance of the prenatal care service, breastfeeding and family
planning. We also had taught their family about diabetes and hypertension.
We are able to go on 13 homes. It is so tiring that we are able to finish our
snacks in few minutes. But it is enjoyable at the same time having the
opportunity to touch simple lives in that community and see the smiles in
their face. After that, we go on planning on how we will do our
documentation for this duty. Job well done!
