The Buddha Palm of Tong Ren

Hi

I am Tong-Ren Dao, founder of the Tong Ren School. If you look at the website you will
know more about my apprentices and I teach in person or via skype. Also in the website are
some of my other writings which are free of any charge. However, you must respect my
copyright.

Enjoy reading.

www.thetongrenschool.com

This version of Buddha Palm is a slightly shortened rendering of what I wrote in my previous
book called Chi Gung Mastery. The only things that are different are some more technically
demanding practical exercises, the associated body-mind points of each of the spheres, and
some of the more advanced medical theory. However, the truth, power and beauty of the
Tong Ren Buddha Palm remains the same.

I originally created the Buddha Palm in order to teach a number of new students who were
previously reiki practitioners, a whole and integrated body of skills based knowledge that
was both accurate and immediately testable.

Reiki as a healing modality is cynically marketed as a system whereas it is only a technique

which is peddled as a business franchise. I have often challenged reiki masters to a test of
skills, between the common-sense practical medicine and the supposedly channelled
universal energy, but the invitation was always declined.

It is very easy to impress a beginner at something, but you have to work a little harder to
impress someone who knows exactly what they are doing and who isn’t afraid to test their
skills, as well as being open to new experiences.

In Buddha Palm, the hand-placements are called spheres, as in spheres of influence. What is
different in Buddha Palm compared to other forms of energy-medicine is the clarity and
high standard of the information associated with each hand position as well as the emphasis
on skills development through performing the practical exercises and executing the
therapeutic intentions of each sphere.

So the challenge is to palpate a friend of yours and then see if you can clear your friend’s
spheres via the doll. This is the Tong Ren Objective Test Number Two.

Sphere of Awareness – palms at the top of the head

The top of the head is the meeting point of all of the yang energy channels within the Body-
Mind, so it has a therapeutic regulating effect upon all of these energy channels. When
there is too much or too little energy in the head, treating here can make it just right.

This sphere is often associated with the client’s energy being too excessive and hot in the
upper body but emptiness and coldness in the lower body. This means that the body’s
warmth is stuck in the wrong place and upside down. When there is too much energy
trapped in the upper body you can signs and symptoms of being excessively emotional as
well as having hot and tight neck and shoulders.

Prolonged stress that leads to excessive thinking as well as tightness in the upper body and
the neck, gradually pulls the energy and warmth from the lower abdomen up to the chest,
neck and head.

There is a clinical syndrome known as head-rush syndrome. In a chronic and severe case the
neck, face and head will be rather red in appearance. This person will feel in a constant state
of rage and any little thing can trigger an emotional explosion.

Many hotly violent people have this condition.

These people will under stress experience an uncomfortable sensation of heat, congestion,
or a mounting pressure in their upper body, especially in the head, leading to a severe
headache with very visible flushing. These episodes can last from a few minutes to half an
hour.

This sphere regulates blood pressure and strengthens the brain as well as healing and
refreshing the nervous system.

In the Tantra classics it is stated that the energy centres open during arousal and close as
arousal declines. An example we all can understand is the rise and fall of energy during the
phases of making love. Arousal, isn’t only a sexual term, arousal is any state of heightened
energy or awareness.

The Tantric classics also state that energy centres have to be developed and maintained at
their through conscious effort just like doing any other kind of skills training. Energy centres
are not innate, fully functioning psychic organs.

Practical Exercises
Palpate yourself from your lower abdomen, to your upper abdomen, and the palpate your
chest, neck and head. Experience how the body temperature varies at these different places

of the body. Now do this with the doll that represents your client and experience what you
perceive.

Therapeutic Intention
With your palm and intention, induce the top of the skull and also the brain underneath, to
just let go and relax.

If the head and face are excessively hot, are you able to transfer this heat into the feet to
warm them up. If you can consistently do this, the next level of this skill is to time how long,
the affect of the cooler head and warmer feet lasts.

Sphere of Facial Tension – palms over the ears, eyes and jaws.
Facial Tension treats all problems of the ears, eyes, and the face as well as the jaws.

With the eyes, hard and tight eyeballs can indicate that the blood vessels behind the eyes
have hardened. If you are treating your client’s eyes, be aware that while the eyeball
remains tight and hard, no manner of eye treatment will be effective. When taking herbs for
the eyes or doing remedial exercises for them, softening the eyeball is the objective sign of
improvement that you are looking for.

People whose eyes hurt a little when they go outside from inside a building don’t have
enough blood nourishment reaching their eyes. This condition is related to the liver. These
people need to go to bed at no later than 10pm each evening so their liver can refresh itself
and restore the vitality to the blood which will in turn nourish the eyes.

Some kinds of headache are caused by hard and tight eyeballs, so when you are treating
someone for headaches, keep this in mind.

For tight jaws which will in turn cause clenching during the day and grinding through the
night, place your palms along the jaw, especially where the jaw attaches to the head. Feel
for any spasms here and dissolve them.

If clenching and grinding is caused by repressed and ruminating thoughts and emotions,
perhaps your client to look at their life and why it isn’t working. Techniques like EFT might
be very useful in these situations.

Practical
Palpate your own eyes and check for how hard and tense they might be

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

4

Palpate the eyes of all of your friends and discover what the degrees of tightness and
tension are

Exaggerate the hardness and tension in your eyeballs and experience what other symptoms
are induced

Exaggerate the tension in your jaws and again experience what negative effects it has on
you

With the ears, how pleasantly warm can you make the space between them be

Does the doll, who represents your client have hard and tight eyeballs? Does the doll have
tense and clamped jaws?

Therapeutic Intention
Induce relaxation of the jaws and ears.

If the eyes are hard and tense relax them as much as possible

When treating the eyes, you can have one hand over the liver while the other palm spends
several minutes with the other eye. Another enjoyable way of relaxing the eyes and
increasing the blood flow through them is to with the eyelids closed, let the eyelids bathe in
warm sunshine for a few minutes each day. Palming the eyes in your spare moments is also
an enjoyable thing to do

When treating the ears, you can place one palm on the kidney on the same side as the ear
you are treating

Sphere of Psychic Support – palms at the base of the skull

The Sphere of Psychic Support treats problems of the nose, ears, eyes as well as tension
headaches by relaxing and re-energising the neck muscles. It fills the back portion of the
brain with fresh vitality and also relaxes the nervous system.

It has a special effect in opening the energy pathways to the legs, especially when the legs
are weak in their function.

Deep and chronic spasms in this sphere can prevent the brain from receiving the nerve
stimulus and blood nourishment that it needs in order to function well.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

5

Spasms here can also be the trigger for constant headaches that cannot be successfully
treated until spasms are reduced in their intensity. Often you will feel a very definite
marble-like spasm which needs releasing.

Practical
Press into the soft space behind your ear bone (mastoid process). Is it tense there or is it
relatively relaxed. If you press there a little more firmly, do you feel a sensation that travels
from there to the same side ear or the eye, or even to both of them at once?

Wherever the sensation travels to, is where you need to pay some therapeutic attention to.

For eye and ear problems, you can place one hand over eye or ear and the other hand on
the same side of the base of the skull.

Another exercise is to place your palms here and visualise your feet, what do you
experience?

Therapeutic Intention

Release the back of the neck and help the posterior part of the brain to just let
go.

Sphere of the Psychic Screen – palms upon the forehead

Psychic Screen is commonly and mistakenly known as the third eye. Lobsang Rampa, the pen
name of an English writer, introduced this erroneous idea into western spiritual pulp fiction.

However, I must own up to the fact that I, myself as well as many of my own generation
read his books and began their spiritual awakening with the romantic, self-righteous tosh of
a writer whose pen name was Lobsang Rampa.

Despite all of the diagrams in the literature, there is no chakra in the area between the
eyebrows. This area is classically called Brumadhya and is only the contact point for Ajna
chakra.

In later a book I will correct much of the misinformation and blatant fabrication that has
accrued about chakras. The information that I will discuss with you is from the direct
experience of a practitioner of kundalini and daoist yoga for over twenty years.

In kriya yoga (which I have regularly practiced for over twenty years, the forehead is called
Chidakasha or the psychic screen upon which you fantasize or visualize your thoughts and
feelings as well as various yogic exercises. It is this psychic screen that is mistaken for the
third eye.

6

Therapeutically this sphere treats weakness of the Inner-Self as well as general nervous
tension.

The psychic and emotional accretions of a life time gather and stagnate within the frontal
lobe of the brain so when you work here you might have unusual sensations.

Practical
Buddha Palm your upper abdomen and experience what effect is has upon your forehead.

Do the same for your friends.

What is the feeling behind your forehead?

Do the same with the doll.

Therapeutic Intention
It is important to release the psychic and emotional accretions from the frontal lobe of the
brain. Have no expectations when you are working here, just be available to what your
hands receive.

Release the frontal lobe and help it to just let go.

Sphere of Immunity – palms along the sides of the throat

The main muscle in the side of the neck is the SCM muscle. If you stroke it and gently pinch
it along its length and across its width, you will find that it is either weak and flaccid, or tight
and tense, and full of painful knots within the muscle.

Regulating this sphere will treat the Vagus nerve, the nervous system as a whole, the
adrenal glands, the tonsils, as well as the thyroid gland. Specifically, it is used for people who
suffer from recurring infections and who are also continually run down.

In Buddha Palm, this sphere is used as the first step in any treatment that involves the
functioning of the internal organs as it opens the organ pathways throughout the whole
body-mind.

Practical
Palpate your own SCM muscle. Is it weak and flaccid or is it tight, tense and knotty. Press the
muscle spasms or the painful spots along and within the muscle and experience what

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

7

negative reactions occur as a result of the pressure. You will generally experience a radiating
pain that spreads into both chest and the side of the head.

Now, go and do this exercise on all of your friends and see who has what kind of SCM.

How is the doll’s SCM muscle?

Therapeutic Intention
During the treatment be aware of how the SCM muscle changes its tone and texture, and
does it change from week to week during a series of treatments.

Also be aware of the state of the carotid pulse before and after the treatment.

Is the carotid pulse pounding; very weak; or does it have a pleasant feel about it.

Sphere of the Lymph and of the Heart – palms above and below the
collar bone
The right side of this sphere effectively treats the right lymphatic duct, which in turn
strengthen the entire lymphatic circulation while the left side of this sphere strengthens the
functions of the heart.

There are many small muscle spasms within this sphere and when they are pressed, painful
radiations travel to the head, chest and arm. It is important that these muscle spasms are
softened by the treatment.

Additionally, this sphere treats localised, compressed nerves and blood vessels, which will
negatively affect the arm and shoulder.

Treating this sphere can also guide downward and re-circulate stagnant heat and trapped
energy from the head and neck.

Working on this sphere will also open and release the Venous Return Sphere at the inguinal
crease. This initial opening the door technique will make the treatment of gynaecological as
well as immune system problems much more effective.

Practical
Feel for the areas of spasm within this sphere. Press them firmly and experience where they
radiate to. Then treat them until they soften.

Again, practice this with your friends then with the doll.

Sphere of the Mother of the Heart – palms over the breast bone
Mother of the Heart is one of the master-spheres for the Body-Mind’s vitality. It opens up
blocked energy within the chest and adds vitality and warmth to a depressed Body-Mind
system.

In Tibetan yoga and medicine, this area is known as the Great Mother of the Heart.

This sphere is associated with the emotional and spiritual aspect of the heart. It is where
you feel desire, longing, connectedness.

A very painful to pressure breast bone is indicative of someone with a lot of unresolved and
pent up emotions.

In classical yoga of all cultures, this is where you nurture your psychic symbol or other yogic-
spiritual focus. In classical Indian yoga this is called your Yidam.

In real life too, it is here where you feel and focus your love for friends; lovers; family
including pets; places and events in your life, and joined with the images in your mind or at
Chidakasha.

Therapeutically, this sphere activates the heart, and the lungs as well as the root of the
thymus gland. It treats fatigue and weakness; emotional instability; nervous tension;
problems of the breasts as well as pain in the chest and back.

People with heart weakness tend to palpitate and sweat with very little exertion, and they
also tend to be forgetful.

Practical
Palpate your breast bone. Is it painful all along its surface, or just tender in a few places?

Now go and palpate all of your friends as well as the doll and see what you will find.

Therapeutic Intention
When treating the tenderness and pain of the breast bone it is important that you reduce
the pain and tenderness by at least fifty percent during your Buddha Palm treatment.

Is there a small, painful to press, bony protrusion on the breast bone? As yet I don’t know
the reason for this calcium build up that many people seem to have. Down the track I will
probably initiate a research project to further look into it.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

9

Sphere of Heart’s Support – palms just beneath the breast bone

Tenderness, tightness and knots in this sphere and also up to the breast bone are strongly
associated with the holding pattern in all emotional problems. No matter what other
treatment you use, it is imperative that you clear this area of blockages. If this area is hard
or tight, it indicates that the person needs to also rest more as their heart is over-worked.

The signs and symptoms that are associated with hardness and tightness in this area
include:

Frontal headache

Dizziness

A sense of suffering within the chest

Speech problems

Excessive phlegm

Insomnia

Easily tired

Spontaneous bleeding of the nose

Pain in the middle of the back

People feel their pangs of hunger beneath this sphere. So in treating digestive problems the
first sphere of treatment is this sphere.

People who really need to repair their Inner-Self or Spirit tend to experience sensations of
sagging, emptiness or blockage at this sphere.

Practical
Palpate this sphere for yourself. What is the texture and are the pressure pain responses
that radiate to other places.

Again, do it on your friends and then the doll.

Therapeutic Intention
When you treat here, can you activate the peristaltic movements of the stomach and
intestines?

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

10

Sphere of Heart’s Ease – palms over the space between the breast
bone and the nipple.
Heart’s Ease, especially its left side is very effective for negating the effects of extreme stress
that is impacting on the heart muscle itself. It is also effective for treating a variety of chest
complaints. For people in high stress occupation and for those in acute or unrelenting stress
as well as those suffering from post traumatic stress disorders, clearing and re-energising
this sphere is essential, otherwise the heart organ will suffer stress induced damage.

Most people who work in high pressure occupations or who live with unrelenting stress are
extremely tender here even upon very gentle pressure.

Ironically, if this sphere is almost directly over your heart, then why don’t you feel positive
emotions here, but you can instead feel the negative effects of stress.

Therapeutic Intention
Palpate this sphere before and after treatment. Has the pressure-pain reduced by at least
fifty per cent.

Also, have you positively affected the Sphere of Twin Souls which is opposite here at the
back, at the inner border of the shoulder blades.

How is your doll responding?

Sphere of the Liver – palms at the lower border of the rib cage
The liver is associated with the Body-Mind’s ability to recover its vitality. People with weak
liver energy become tired very easily, and even after a long sleep, they find that they are
unable to recover their energy. These people tend to be tired all of the time, no matter how
many hours of sleep they have. They feel exhausted after a day’s work and they just want to
collapse into bed when they get home after a day’s work, or they exert themselves for a day
and then need two to four days to recover.

The liver also controls the free-flow of your emotions and your digestive abilities.

Emotional dis-harmonies such as nervous tension; over-sensitivity; being easily affected by

stress; irritability; anger for no reason; insomnia; clenching of the jaws while awake;
grinding of the teeth while asleep; and violent emotional over-reaction are all related to the
liver.

Eye dis-functions such as weakness of vision; deteriorating eyesight with aging; tearing for
no reason; blurred vision; and spots before the eyes are also liver related.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

11

When someone has a warm torso but is cold in the hands and feet it indicates that the
person is emotionally pent-up or stuck which causes the liver to bind all of the body’s
warmth into the torso and therefore freezing the four limbs of the trunk.

Practical
When you press under your rib cage is it tense and tight and painful in some places, or does
it feel weak and without tone and your fingers can easily slip under the ribs.

Now do your friends and then the doll.

Therapeutic Intention
If the area beneath the ribs is very tight, can you soften it by at least fifty- percent.

Are you able to affect the tissues of the liver to unblock the pathways within its structure?
And how would you measure your effectiveness?

Sphere of Receiving Nourishment – palms over the upper abdomen

Receiving and Transforming treats all digestive disorders.

People with a weakness in the spleen, stomach and pancreas generally have very little
appetite for food, or they can eat regularly but don’t derive any energy from the food and
drink that they take in. Instead of feeling energised after eating, they feel tired, sleepy and
bloated. These people can feel full even after a couple of mouthfuls of food.

A common symptom, with these people is that their arms and legs feel tired, weak and
heavy like lead.

If your digestion isn’t working properly, you won’t be able to make any energy what so ever.

Practical
Palpate your upper abdomen. Is it tight; tender; lumpy; ropy or does it feel sunken and cold.

Again, go and examine all of your friends and get to know them even better. Now do the
doll.

Therapeutic Intention
Can you change the state of the upper abdomen by at least fifty percent?

Are you able to positively change the texture of the middle back due to working upon the
upper abdomen?

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

12

Sphere of Renewal and Storage

Renewal and Psychic Storage strengthens the functions of the kidneys, stomach, intestines and
reproductive system; increases the blood circulation to the lower abdomen and treats weakness and
personal emptiness.

This sphere can renew the Source Chi or the Body-Mind’s energetic foundation and is used to treat
all problems caused by weak vitality and the after affects of having a chronic disease.

Coldness in this sphere can cause symptoms of sinusitis; allergic rhinitis; sneezing; nasal congestion;
watery eyes and nose; cold limbs and weak legs.

This is one of the spheres that can restore the Body-Mind at its deepest levels of Being. Another of
these immensely important spheres is the sphere Twin Souls.

It is not always just a matter of putting your hands on these spheres, sometimes you still have to
know how to activate them.

This sphere is the doorway from which the body-mind vitality circulates out from and after
completing its cyclic flow, returns to, in a never ending flow from the moment you are conceived to
the moment of your passing.

When people mistakenly and prematurely develop their higher energy centres in the erroneous
belief that they are being more spiritual, apart from the delusion of being more evolved than they
really are, various mental, emotional and physical problems can develop. When these problems
occur, they can be healed through treatments and practices that involve the lower energy centre or
what is also known as the Manipura energy centre.

Practical
Palpate from your navel down to the pubic bone. How warm or cool is it. What else did you
find? What about this sphere with all of your friends and what are the degrees of cold and
warmth among all of them.

Now do the doll.

Therapeutic Intention
Your intention with this sphere is to warm and refill the Source Chi.

Using the skills of intellectual and perceptual rigor, how would you objectively asses your
effectiveness with this technique rather than make an unsubstantiated claim to your client
and yourself.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

13

Sphere of Woman – at the tip of the 12th rib and along the inner cup
of the front hips
There are two different kinds of tight tense tissue within this sphere that need to be
released. The first is the tightness at Gb25 in the area just below the tip of the 12 th rib. The
other is generally a very tight cigar like mass that binds up the area between Gb26 to Gb28
located within the inner cup of the hip.

Sphere of Woman has a wide range of positive effects including:

Warming the kidneys when they are cold

Releases tension of the flank and the inner cup of the hips

Releases tense genitals

Regulates functions of both intestines and the triple burner

Gynaecological problems

Therapeutic Intention
Can you release the nervousness as well as the sense of vigilance that is often found in this
area of the body?

Sphere of the Venous Return – palms at the borders of the inguinal

crease and the pubic bone
Venous Return increases the circulation of vitality and blood to the internal organs, genitals,
legs and feet. This sphere is also important for strengthening the immune system.

Among this spheres uses are: for cold legs and feet; infertility; menstrual problems; pain in
the groin and testicles; pain in the groin and labias; and for when blood rushes to the head
as in head-rush syndrome.

Sphere of the Fu – palms at the bulge of the tibial muscle

Fu treats all problems of the stomach; intestines and the gallbladder. It also treats weakness
of the immune system, lack of energy; weak digestion and weak legs.

Sphere of the Fu often directly releases the stomach to the point where the client can
actually feel the stomach’s release.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

14

This sphere will also bring excess energy down from the head.

Sphere of Returning Yin – palms above the inner ankle

Returning Yin re-energises the liver, kidneys and spleen-pancreas as well as opening the
pathways in the lower abdomen so that local treatment is more effective.

This sphere opens the door for treating all problems that are below the navel.

Practical
Grab a few friends and start palpating their lower abdomens. Look for lower abdomens with
good tone and also for those that just sink in when you press.

Now do your doll.

Therapeutic Intention
As an experiment, palpate the lower abdomen of someone whose lower abdomen is weak
and sinking. Can you plump it up with vitality, and if an abdomen is too hard, can you soften
it.

The therapeutic effect must be at least fifty percent.

Sphere of the Middle Clearance – palms on top of the ankle

Middle Clearance clears all kinds of blockages from the torso and flanks, releases pent up
emotions; draws down stagnant heat and energy from the upper body; as well as
recirculating inhibited blood circulation.

Sphere of the Liver Soul – in the web between the big toe and second
toe
Liver Soul is especially good for people who are cranky and frustrated; emotionally
repressed; hysteria; insomnia; have shit on their liver; and who toss and turn while asleep.

Liver Soul also treats genital and urinary disorders; pain in the chest and ribs; headaches;
dizziness and red eyes.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

15

Sphere of Thunder Returning to the Earth – the outer side of the

elbows
Thunder Returning treats emotional tightness to the point of high blood pressure and
contracture of the internal organs. Additionally, this sphere treats feverishness as well as
pain in the shoulder, arm, elbow and wrist.

Thunder Returning diffuses the noise and thunder of inner turmoil that blocks the free flow
of energy and emotions from the core of the body to the periphery and back again.

Sphere of Spiritual Well-Being – inner side of the wrist

Spiritual Well-Being treats all emotional problems whether they are of a mildly depressive
or toward manic in nature; as well as pent up-ness; weak Inner-Self; exhaustion and
weariness; problems of the chest and upper abdomen; weak heart and lungs; and pain in
the neck, shoulder and upper back.

Therapeutic Intention
Before you work here, palpate the spheres of Mother of the Heart; Heart’s Ease and Heart’s
Support. Once you know the state of these three spheres, treat the Sphere of Spiritual Well-
Being then check to see how much improvement you have achieved.

Sphere of Clearing the Yang – outer side of the wrist

Clearing the Yang treats pain in the neck; chest and ribs, as well as pain in the cervical
vertebrae; the shoulder; elbows and wrist.

When treating this sphere, have the client turn their head and neck fully left and right, as
well as shrugging and rotating the shoulders.

Therapeutic Intention
Before you treat this sphere, palpate the above areas to determine how tight and tense they
are. Then after the treatment, see by how much improvement you have made.

Sphere of Spiritual Ascension – palms upon the three segments of

the spinal column

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

16

Spiritual Ascension regulates the positive flow of energy, blood and cerebro-spinal fluid up
the spine and into the brain, as well as strengthening the nervous system.

If you divide the spinal column into three sections, the lower section treats disorders of the
kidneys; intestines; lower back problems; urination problems; as well as disorders of the
sexual and reproductive functions.

The middle section regulates the liver, gallbladder, spleen, pancreas and the stomach and it
treat all kinds of internal problems.

Tiredness; digestive problems and pain in the middle back are also treated here.

The upper section treats emotional problems as well as disorders of the heart and lungs and
also pain in the neck, the shoulders as well as pain in the scapula.

Practical
Palpate the spinal column before and after you work on it

Therapeutic Intention
As a training exercise, before you treat this sphere, palpate the front midline of the body
that is associated with each of the three spinal segments. Then after you have worked with
this sphere, see by how much you have positively affected each of the segments at the
front.

Sphere of Twin Souls – palms at the inner borders of the shoulder

blades
In Buddhist and Daoist medicine each of the internal organs has a soul or spirit. These terms
do not have strict definitions but they do convey a truth. What is actually meant is that each
organ is conscious of itself, and that’s why you can talk to each of them. In both traditions,
there are many inner and secret teachings based on this truth.

Twin Souls empowers the soul of the heart and the lungs, which makes this sphere effective
for treating a wide range of emotional states.

This sphere also stimulates the entire immune system and activates the production of bone
marrow and red blood cells.

Pain and stiffness in the whole back and spinal column can also be treated here.

Within this sphere most people have a prominent and painful spasm which can lead to heart
trouble later in life.

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

17

Many years ago when I was doing my apprenticeship in Daoist medicine and internal
alchemy, my teacher told me of how he kept his own teacher alive from impending heart
attack by regularly freeing up this area.

Twin Souls is another of the spheres that works at the deepest levels of Being and has the
following functions:

Refreshes the body-mind following over-work or long standing fatigue

Strengthens the Source vitality

Strengthens the functions of the spleen and lungs

Balances the relationship between the heart and kidneys

Stimulates the entire immune system

Therapeutic Intention
You need to reduce the pressure-pain response in this sphere by at least fifty percent if you
want to affect your client’s physiology.

Also, before working here, palpate the texture and pressure-pain response at the Sphere of
Heart’s Ease. By working at the back, by how much can you reduce the pressure-pain
response at Heart’s Ease.

Sphere of Absorb and Transform – palms on the middle of the back

Absorb and Transform strengthens the whole body-mind; restores vitality; regulates the
functions of the lymph system, the liver, gallbladder, spleen and stomach, as well as
strengthening the digestive process.

Absorb and Transform is important for treating all chronic illnesses.

Sphere of Fire in the Water – palms on the area of the kidneys

The area of the kidneys has two locations, although they are really two halves of one whole.

Energetically, the area is between and either side of the 2nd and 3rd lumbar vertebrae, while
physically, the kidney area is over the kidneys themselves, where it is often ticklish or sore
to press.

Fire in the Water nourishes and warms the vitality of the Ming Men otherwise known as the
Life Gate Fire (just like a pilot-light in a gas appliance) and refills the body-mind’s energy

18

reserves. It strengthens the kidneys and the large intestine and builds stamina in weakened
individuals.

Lumbago due to kidney weakness is also treated here, as well as sexual responsiveness and
staying power.

The Life Gate Fire is where the foundation of the body-mind’s energy is made. As this
internal fire wanes so does your ability to live to a reasonably healthy life for the span of
your years in this incarnation.

People with weak kidney energy experience extreme fatigue and also have a weak lower
back and legs and become easily exhausted after standing or waling. To recover their
energy, they must lie down for a while, then they start to feel better.

Sphere of Movement – palms over the buttocks

Movement treats the hips as well as the lower back, legs, knees and feet.

Opening this sphere tends to also release any emotional tension or withholding of the anal
and genital area that creates a condition of disassociation, numbness or hyper-vigilance.

Sphere of Sex and Fertility – palms on the sacrum and along its
borders
The sacrum used to be known as the sacred bone because of its connection with the yogic-
spiritual work in all traditions, both East and West.

Sex and Fertility has three areas to treat:

The upper border of the sacrum, which is used to treat problems of the lower back, legs
and abdomen.

The middle of the sacrum, which treats sexual weakness as well as lumbo-sacral pain.

Along the sides of the sacrum where if you palpate you will often find that there are hard,
jelly-like lumps. These are responsible for creating problems like sciatica; lower back pain;
tension at the base of the skull; and all gynaecological and intestinal problems.

Sphere of the Lower Back – palms at the back of the knee

Tong Ren Dao 2008 Australia ©

19

Lower Back treats pain and stiffness in the back of the knees as well as the lower back and
flanks.

Therapeutic Intention
Before you treat this sphere, examine the lower back for stiffness and tightness and then
after the treatment, see what difference you have made.

Sphere of the Organs and the Bones – palms on the inside and the
outer side of the knee
Organs and Bones treats weakness of the knees and legs; breast problems; weakness and
fatigue; problems of the liver, kidneys, gallbladder, spleen, stomach, all disorders of the
abdomen.

Urinary and genitals functions can also be regulated with this sphere.

Sphere of Physical Support – palms at the calves

Physical Support provides both physical and psychic support when used in a Buddha Palm
session.

It also treats pain or tightness in the middle of the back, painful haemorrhoids; as well as
pain and weakness in the knees and lower legs.

Physical Support also draws down blocked energy and heat from the upper body and head.

Sphere of the Sacred – palms at both sides of the ankles

Sacred balances the yin nourishing energies and also the yang transforming energies of the
Body-mind. Use this sphere to treat fears and obsessions, as well as an over-sensitive
nervous system, and weak and painful hips, thighs, knees and legs.

Sacred also releases the sacrum.

Sphere of Presentness

Presentness draws down all over-heated and blocked energy from the head and the upper
body. The energy of this sphere flows in two directions at the same time:

It draws down stuck and over –heated energy from the upper body

It also generates righteous vitality to flow from the feet to the head and then back down
again.

Presentness treats the kidneys as well as the effects of aging.

Releasing the Spheres

Most of the spheres will release or regulate a distant area of the Body-Mind with which it is
energetically related.

Learning to be competent in releasing the spheres will give you a technical mastery that no
other healing modality has yet achieved. When you can positively affect any part of the
body at will your clients, friends and students will be utterly amazed.

There are two ways to work with a client . If the client is paying you to just let them zonk out
as a half an hour refuge from their life issues then you just do your thing and let them float
off to whatever paradise they long for.

However, if your client is paying you for clinical results then a little more effort and
awareness is required of both you and your client.

There is a big therapeutic difference between just putting your hands on an area and
actually knowing what that same area can therapeutically do for you, if you know what you
are working with.

For example, if your client wants you to work on their liver, the result will be much better if
both you and the client focus on the healing-response of the liver. You don’t need to do any
mental gymnastics, just warmly greet the liver.

Before I retired from working as a professional sorcerer in the Tibetan Iron Kilaya tradition
(countering black magick that had been used against people, as well as exorcising people,
animals and places and dealing with occurrences of strange and mysterious phenomena) I
defined in a nutshell the foundation rule of magick.

The rule is:

Everything wants to be acknowledged for who or what it is

Everything wants to actualise its purpose

Everything wants connection with al other things

When this rule is married to the Five Tenets there is a whole lifetime spiritual path for
