visit here this weekend.
Duterte arrived in Doha to hold bilat-
eral talks with Emir Sheikh Tamim bin
Hamad Al Thani as well as attract more
investors during an assembly with Qatari
business community.
We are looking forward to the signing
of a bilateral agreement on the promotion
and protection of investments. If inked
during the visit of the President, it is ex-
pected to open a lot of investments in the
Philippines because the Qatar government
wants to diversify their investment to other
places, Philippine Ambassador Alan Tim-
bayan said.
They are looking to the Philippines as
a good place where to place their invest-
ment, he added.
Ahead of the Presidents visit, Tim-
bayan said the investment roadshow
conducted by Philippine Economic Zone
Authority director general Charito Plaza
in Doha last February already yielded
positive results.
He said Plaza has received pledges of
investments in the Philippines from various
individuals and companies interested in
doing business in the Philippines.
The business interest was sparked after
Plaza presented the lucrative investment
opportunities in the country while high-
lighting the stability of the country to do
more business as well as stability of the
Duterte administration and zero tolerance
for corruption, according to Timbayan.
The priority sectors for investment pro-
motion to Qatar are information technology,
business process management, energy,
agribusiness, infrastructure, and tourism.

he statistics are alarming. As re-
cent as 2008, the ratio of people
with autism vis--vis the general
population was one for every
220. By 2011, according to figures pro-
vided by the World Health Organization
(WHO), the new global ratio has jumped
to one for every 68. If you think thats bad,
in South Korea today one out of 35 people
is said to be autistic.
More unfortunate still is the inability
of various experts in the field to agree on
what really causes the brain condition,
which leaves young children, mostly boys,
generally unresponsive, unable to make
eye contact, fixated on certain tasks and
routines, and sometimes lacking in em-
pathy. In some cases, the autistic person
remains uncommunicative or non-verbal,
making it harder for his parents to know
whats on his mind.
Contrary to common
perceptions, autistics
do have emotions
and feelings.
Rizalio Sanchez, chief of information,
education, and communications division
of the National Council on Disability Af-
fairs (NCDA), shared these numbers just
before last Aprils lighting ceremony at
the Araneta Coliseums main gate in Cu-
bao, Quezon City.
Just like other iconic buildings and
landmarks the world over such as the
Eiffel Tower, Washington Monument,

House, and even a section of the Niagara
Falls, part of the Big Dome was bathed
in blue light for one hour (from 6 to 7
p.m.) as a symbolic gesture supporting
the United Nations declaration of April
as World Autism Awareness Month.
(Most cities in North America held the
symbolic lighting on April 2.)

During one seemingly innocent
commute, a car driver thought His Passen-
ger (HP) as with A Companion (AC) looked
familiar. Yet he kept to his business because
as a driver, he cant be nosy.
By the by, HP instructed the driver to
bring him and AC to a certain place. As soon
as they arrived at the location, AC stepped
down. HP moved closer to the driver tell-
ing him he did not see anything. In other
words, the driver should see nothing, hear
nothing, and say nothing.
The last statement of HP jolted the driv-
ers memory. HP is none other than network
talent who is supposedly in a relationship
with Pretty Female (PF).
But why was HP with AC and not PF?
And why would someone committed be
checking in a motel with another person,
much more, someone of the same gender?
