A Shepherd's View
Today is June 11, the Solemnity
of The Most Holy Trinity.
I remember well, that on this
date in 1985, I received my
acceptance letter to enter the
Seminary and I was so proud to
tell my grandparents. My grandmother cried with
joy, my grandfather first thought I was going to
get a job in a "cemetery", but then was pleased it
wasn't that! My parents, of course, were thrilled
that my life decision was one to serve the Lord in
the Church---and proved it by their nurturing
love and support! On this Solemnity of the Holy
Trinity, that's exactly what we should all be doing!
Serving the Father, Son and Holy Spirit in our
daily lives, our decisions, and our hopes and
desires. The Church calls us to lead Trinitarian
lives from Baptism to Old Age. Living this is when
we allow the Father's Creative love and providing
life flow through us; trying to love like Jesus
called us to be; making the Holy Spirit transform
our hearts and souls. For centuries many have
pondered this deep teaching of the Church,
but you make it as simple as when a nun once
told me-"It's like making the Sign of the Cross----
I love God with all my Mind (the head) and all my
soul (the heart) and when I reach out to others
(Left shoulder), God's fulfilling love comes back
to bless me (right shoulder)."
The Love of God--- Father, Son and Holy Spirit is,
indeed, ALIVE in our Church!
