Tracking Wheels Depth with Distance traveled

You do it through Measuring Points, i.e., You would measure both everytime.
Make a layout of IK17 report so that these two are side-by-side to analyze easily.
OR
You can prepare a custom report which displays a ratio of these 2 readings which will be more easily reflect the
performance of the tyre.

Tracking Serial Numbers of Tyres

You can do this through several methods
1. Serialzation
2. Maintain the Serial Number in Technical Id field of Tyre Master
3. Maintain the Serial Number as a characteristic in the Class assigned to the Tyre.

SN2 is hasslefree. Then SNo.3 also preferable. SNo1 should not be opted unless some other requirements are
there which are based on Material serialzation.

Greetings Jogeswara, Mohamed,

Alternatively, depending on whether your tyre depth measurements are discrete, you could track and report on
them by registering Measuring Documents with Valutation Code That way you can have those data elements
on the same document. (Distance recorded as Characteristic value, Depth as a Valuation Code). But this not
doable if you measure the depth with much precision.

thanks for your replies
my customer was not satisfied when i suggested creation of sub equipment for each in the vehicle and said this
is headache to create every tire and install it and dismantle , he needs only to track on each truck :
1. Wheels serial numbers
2. Travel distance
3. Depth of each tire after certain distance with out creation of tire as sub equipment

Before conveying what your customer told you, you need to understand that if you want something from the
system, you need to give too to the system. Try to be more specific in your requirements. Walk some distance
with your customer's requirements, translate the rest to SAP language to interact with the forum.

Now coming to the possibilities,

SN1.
Already suggested that Serial numbers to be maintained in the TechId field of Tyre master.
SN2
Truck's Speedometer reading gives the Travel distance.
SN3
Take tyres' depth readings as well as tyre travel distance whenever you measure SN2.

Where is the necessity for Sub-Equipments?

Over to other members for their opinions please.

If you want a simple solution, the create 8 measurement points on the equipment for the car, two per wheel/
tyre:
1. Measurement point 1: Front left wheel - Km
2. Measurement point 2: Front left wheel - Depth
3. Measurement point 3: Front right wheel - Km
4. Measurement point 4: Front right wheel - Depth
5. Measurement point 5: Rear left wheel - Km
6. Measurement point 6: Rear left wheel - Depth
7. Measurement point 7: Rear right wheel - Km
8. Measurement point 8: Rear right wheel - Depth

You would then need customer-specific report for "depth with the travelling distance".

Thanks for your reply

@ Pete , regarding last point , what about entering serial numbers of tires in the truck's master data ??

@ jogeswara you said there will be tire master so what kind of master data you suggested if sub equipment is
not sufficient ??

Re: Track Car Wheels Jul 10, 2014 10:44 AM
Rashad,
There will be 4 tyres as equipments.
Other (MPs) points I suggeseted were detailed by Mr. Peter, i.e., Two measuring points each tyre.

Re: Track Car Wheels Jul 10, 2014 1:46 PM
You can enter embed the wheel's serial numbers in the measurement point name/description:

1. Measurement point 1: 123456-FL-KM

2. Measurement point 2: 123456-FL-DEPTH
3. Measurement point 3: 123457-FR-KM
4. Measurement point 4: 123457-FR-DEPTH
5. Etc

If you want a simple option, then this set-up will allow you one equipment master per car, but still allow you to
enter details for each wheel.

If you want more detailed info per wheel, then create a serial number/equipment for each wheel.
