What is the difference between the O2Vent and the Oventus Clearway Device?
Oventus Pty Ltd has launched a global company initiative to unify the brand identity across
its ranges of products. As part of this process, from May 2016 the Oventus Clearway
Device is now rebranded to O2Vent Mono. This change will be reflected on device packaging,
labelling and promotional materials. The O2Vent Mono is still manufactured to the same high
quality, but now with a new name.
The O2Vent devices are included in the ARTG (Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods),
TM
O2Vent Mono ARTG 230890, O2Vent T ARTG 275667 and O2Vent W ARTG 286864.

The O2Vent bypasses the nose and soft palate and prevents the tongue obstructing so
TM
weak throat muscles are not an issue when breathing in and out using the O2Vent . TM
If the patient suffers from lateral collapse of the pharyngeal areas, the appliance will help
prevent collapse by allowing air to enter that region unobstructed and with good flow.
However, the O2Vent does not pump air into these areas. In cases where lateral collapse is
TM
severe, patients are advised to consult their healthcare professional. Positive airway
pressure machines would be a better option in these cases.
The airway in the O2Vent is fully enclosed from the intake at the front of the mouth to
TM
the pharynx at the back of the mouth so the air doesnt come into contact with the mouth
as the patient breathes through it. There is always an oral seal. It is not possible for the
patient to mouth breathe with the device in place. It does, however, provide a second
nose for the patient to breathe through if they cannot get enough air due to nasal
congestion or obstruction. It converts mouth breathers to pseudo nose breathers.
The O2Vent is available through Oventus Trained Clinicians dentists who have undergone
TM
the training required to assess your suitability to O2Vent treatment, and take bite
TM
registration and impressions of the top and bottom teeth. We are accrediting Clinicians
frequently and adding to our existing network. Currently, Clinicians are located in the
following states.
1. Queensland
2. Victoria
3. New South Wales
4. ACT
5. South Australia
6. Tasmania
7. Western Australia
What is the difference between the Oventus O2Vent and other oral devices?
Like all oral appliances that bring the jaw forward, the O2Vent stabilises the jaw position
TM
and brings the tongue forward to reduce airway collapse. In addition, the unique airway
allows for breathing through the device to bypass obstruction in the nose which can
contribute to snoring and sleep-disordered breathing.
1. Airway the O2Vent has an airway about the size of a healthy human nose incorporated
TM
into it. The air enters the airway and is delivered to the back of the oral cavity so patients
can breathe through the device while maintaining an oral seal.
2. Small and streamlined The O2Vent is 3D printed in medical grade titanium which
TM
facilitates its lightweight, thin wall and complex hollow structure incorporating its unique
airway. This allows us to build an airway into a more streamlined device that is less than
5mm thick as it passes between the teeth its about the size of a standard mouth guard.
4. Comfort the O2Vent is lined with a medical grade, polymer liner to maximise patient
TM
comfort. The design of this customised device comfortably fits around your teeth, and
provides ample space to accommodate the tongue.
Oral or mandibular advancement devices like the O2Vent are emerging as an accepted

peer-reviewed clinical data was published at the AADSM 25th Anniversary Meeting in
Denver in June 2016.
The early design of the O2Vent has been used for some time in private clinical practice.

Developed in 2013, Oventus conducted a pilot study on the design with promising results.
After further refinement and in particular using 3D printing technology, the device has
been improved to be more comfortable with a more compact device.
Obstructive Sleep Apnea (OSA) is a serious chronic medical condition. Thats why the
Oventus sleep Apnea treatment process involves dentists trained in Dental Sleep Medicine,
and treatment is prescribed by your Sleep Physician based on the results of your diagnostic
sleep study and your suitability for treatment.
