 ABOUT US

BAJA SAEINDIA
BAJA SAEINDIA tasks the students to conceptualize design, build, test & validate a single-seater four wheeled All-Terrain
Vehicle (ATV) to take part in series of events spread across a course of 3 days that test the vehicle for the sound
engineering practices that have gone into it, the agility of the vehicle in terms of gradeability, acceleration, suspension,
traction, and maneuverability characteristics and finally, its ability to endure that back breaking durability test.

The BAJA SAEINDIA began its journey in the year 2007 and was launched under the leadership of Dr. Pawan Goenka
(former President of SAEINDIA) and the convenorship of Dr. K C Vora. As SAEINDIA ventured on to the unchartered
territory of holding a mega-event of this scale, NATRiP came forward to lend a helping hand through an earmarked zone
at its upcoming proving grounds- NATRAX, situated at Pithampur, Indore.

In the inaugural year of 2007, the event received participation from 27 engineering institutes, which grew to an
overwhelming 414 participating teams in 2017. Since that time there has been no looking back. The event has become
more challenging than ever, both to the participants and to the management. The notable of all features of the event is
it being aligned to the best practices followed in the industry, and imparting knowledge of the same to students. Unlike
the west, where the participants are registered on first-come first-serve basis, in India there is a mechanism set in place
to filter out the best.

ABOUT BAJA SAEINDIA Forum

BAJA SAEINDIA Forum is an official web based query management portal of BAJA SAEINDIA. It is primarily designed to
cater the need of efficient query management and to bring all registered/ selected teams on the same platform. This
interactive forum allows teams to post their queries and can have faster solutions to it. It also has database of all
Frequently Asked Queries as reference to avoid any redundancy. Its unique features permit teams to keep in touch with
the Organizing Team and to keep themselves updated.

It is an initiative taken by few BAJA SAEINDIA Alums who, when they were participants, always felt a strong need of
proper query management system. So, when they got an opportunity, they, with the support of BAJA SAEINDIA
Organizing Committee, created BAJA SAEINDIA Forum. They benchmarked some of the world's best forums to design an
"All in One" platform.

BAJA SAEINDIA Forum is a Members Only Forum where only registered / selected teams of BAJA SAEINDIA are given
access. It follows "One Account for One Team" policy where Team Captain can log in with Team ID and Password to read
& post queries online. Queries will be categorized under different heads and will be reviewed/ approved by
Administrators. BAJA SAEINDIA Forum works on a set of rules mentioned in Forum's User Manual.

 USER REGISTRATION
1. POINTS TO REMEMBER:
BAJA SAEINDIA FORUM (www.bajasaeindiaforum.com) is a Restricted Access Website.
Access is restricted to BAJA SAEINDIA Teams and Organizers.
Any unauthorized access / content is prohibited.
All the content in the forum is being moderated / monitored.

2. REQUIREMENTS:
A PC / Laptop with a stable Internet Connection.
Web Browsers like Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox or Internet Explorer v 9+.
We advise the team to have the following details handy :

Note:-

Activation email will be sent from Forum Board email ID: - board@bajasaeindiaforum.com .
Teams are requested to ensure that they mark the email address (board@bajasaeindiaforum.com) as SAFE.
If there is any error in Team Email ID registered by team, they are required to email their issues to
troubleshoot.bajasaeindiaforum@gmail.com

3. REGISTRATION RULES :

Teams are required to go through the User Manual and Activate their respective accounts on the forum
(www.bajasaeindiaforum.com).

Team once registered cannot register again using the same credentials.

Each team will be allowed to register only ONCE.

Multiple registrations by the same team will lead to rejection.

All the Registrations will be made by the BAJA Forum Team, teams have to activate their account according to
process mentioned below.

Team will be responsible for any invalid / wrong input of data like Email address / Name / Team ID.

In case Teams face any issues during activation, they are requested to mail their query along with a snapshot of
the Issue to troubleshoot.bajasaeindiaforum@gmail.com , with CC to their respective Alumni Coordinators.

4. REGISTRATION PROCESS

a. Team Login, User ID and Password details:

The Team ID and Password details will be shared with the teams on the Team Email ID which they have provided
during registration. Refer the following sample:

b. Using the link received in the Email, Teams are required to Activate their BAJA SAEINDIA Forum Account to
access the site.
c. Note that all communications on the Forum will be sent from board@bajasaeindiaforum.com, hence teams are
requested to ensure that they mark the email address (board@bajasaeindiaforum.com) as SAFE.

Once Activation is complete, the team will have successfully completed the Registration Process.

 e. On the Welcome page, Fill in Team ID and Password

5. CHANGING YOUR PASSWORD:

a. It is recommended as a safety measure, that Teams change their password after activation.
b. To change your password, select the drop down icon besides your Account Id which is mentioned at the top
right of the page as shown: then select > Account Settings

 c. In the Accounts Settings, enter your new password in the two fields mentioned, and also enter your old
password:

After you have entered the required data click on change profile, your password is changed successfully.

d. In case you forget your password, you can retrieve it by clicking on > Forgot Password? Option on the forum
login page. You will then be prompted to enter your email ID and a password recovery link similar to the one
used for activation will be send to the Team email address associated with your account.

 ACCESSING THE FORUM
VIEWING A TOPIC

1. Login to the Forum Website using your Team ID & password.

2. Navigate to > HOME.

Under this Page, you will see a Number of Topics listed. These are the Major Categories under which a Query
belongs. For E.g.: Under > POWERTRAIN, you will find Queries related to Engines, Transmission, CVT & so on.

SEARCH A QUERY

Teams need to Search for any Query for which they need an answer. The Search Feature can be used to search for word
or phrases that may be present in the query.

Using Search Bar:

1. On the Home Screen, navigate to the Top Right of the screen to find the Search Bar with a Magnifying Glass
Symbol ( ). Drag your mouse over this symbol to open the Search Bar

2. Enter the Search Term in the Search Bar and press Enter to find search Results.

 3. Search Results will be displayed, which can be viewed by the teams to find a solution for their query.

4. In case the query is not in the Forum, Team can Post new query on the Forum to get answers.

To ask a query, Refer > POST A QUERY.

 POST A QUERY

Teams can also Post a Query on the Forum to get a Reply from the Administrators of BAJA SAEINDIA. The process to
Post a Query on the Forum is explained as below.

1. Login to the Forum Website using your Team ID & password.

2. Click on the Category under which you need to post the Query.
For E.g. Category > POWERTRAIN, Click on > ENGINE | DRIVETRAIN

3. Select > NEW TOPIC to start a New Query.

 4. On the Next Screen, you will be asked to enter all the details of the Query, Details like:
SUBJECT: Single Line Subject related the vehicle Sub-system and Nature of the Query
MESSAGE ICON: Standard Message
FORMATTING TOOLBAR: To be used to apply Text Format to the Body
BODY / QUERY: Detailed Query to be mentioned here. Also, kindly mention the Rulebook Article and other
minor details in order to get a clear picture of the query.
ATTACHMENTS: Images / Drawings to support your Query (if reqd.)

5. Once this Form is Completely Filled, Team may Click on > POST to send their Query to the Forum.
The Query will be put up for Approval, and will appear ONLY when it is APPROVED.

 6. The Query will be displayed as: Awaiting Approval, and will not be replied unless approved.

7. Once Approved, The query is LIVE in the Forum.

QUERY REPLY AND NOTIFICATION

All the Approved Query will be replied by the Administrators on the same Query Thread.

Reply will appear trailing to the query and can be referred by Teams at any point of time.

In order to create a Notification on the Posting of Reply to the query, the Team may activate the Notification Option to
get an Email informing them about the reply on their query.

ACTIVATE NOTIFICATION

1. Login to the Forum Website using your Team ID & password.

2. Click on the Category under which you need to post the Query.
For E.g. Category > POWERTRAIN, Click on > ENGINE | DRIVETRAIN
Approved Queries are added to the Category and can be viewed by the Teams.

3. Click on the Query Title

For E. g: Click on > Engine - Engine model details , to go to the Topic

 4. In the query Screen, Click on > NOTIFY

Click on NOTIFY

5. On Clicking > NOTIFY, you will be given a message that the Notifications has been activated on the Query.
Click on > OK

6. You have successfully subscribed to Notifications for this Query.

Once a reply is posted for this query, you will receive an email in your registered email address notifying you
that a reply has been posted for your query.

 When a query is replied, the reply will appear trailing to the query.

 MESSAGES
Messages can be used by Teams to Communicate with Other Members on the Forum.

Messages are to be used in a responsible and appropriate manner. Any inappropriate communication will lead to Ban
of the Member from the Forum.

Teams will also receive important Announcements / Communications / Notifications from Admins in this Tab.

Messages can be received and sent using My Messages. Sending a message indicates the personal views and opinions
of the Team sending the message. BAJA SAEINDIA will not be responsible any content Sent using
> My Messages; > Send a Message Feature in the Forum.
