YOUR INSPIRING MERCURY RETROGRADE GUIDE by Elizabeth Peru

Hello and welcome to the second powerful Mercury Retrograde Season for 2016. As I said
back in January, we have a special year in 2016 with FOUR Mercury Retrogrades.
Normally we experience three Mercury Retrogrades each calendar year. However, in 2016
The Year of Completion, we are getting extra cosmic assistance from Mercury to help
uslet go, release, re-set and be free.

Every year I encourage us to love the Mercury Retrograde, as I see it as one of the more
progressive planetary influences that we can benefit from. Thus, I offer YOUR INSPIRING
MERCURY RETROGRADE GUIDE. This guide highlights the special significance and
power that the Mercury Retrograde brings. Far from being a period of the year where plans
go awry and you can feel halted at every move, the Mercury Retrograde allows you to get
detailed, flexible, trusting and clear, as you uncover your personal truth.

Since I began my study of the stars and spirituality, I have been especially drawn to the
retrograde cycles and in particular that of Mercury. Ive noticed that when Mercury is in
retrograde our body can display a collection of physical ailments, as we adjust to being
active, quick-witted communicators.

Your body is always expanding towards life, following natures force and Mercury is a
physical body, just as Earth is and just as you are. We are all planetary bodies inter-
relating, influencing and impacting upon one another.

WHY A SEPARATE GUIDE?

Mercury has a bit of a reputation in our solar system for being a stirrer, like the
court jester of old or the joker in a pack of cards. Mercurys planetary body pushes our
physical body to move faster, as it helps us to release our inhibitions, let loose, be free and
have a good laugh at ourselves.

Mercury urges us to come into our authenticity by forcing us to look into the deeper
meaning behind our communication style. Mercury is also known as The Winged
Messenger bringing us long awaited answers at lightening quick speed.

With all of this in mind, there are ways and techniques to be aware of that will help
you to navigate, thrive and be inspired by the highs and lows of this thrilling
season.

WHAT IS A RETROGRADE?
Lets start by looking at what a planetary retrograde actually is. Being in retrograde simply
means that we are reversing over old ground. We are taking a retrospective look and
glance back over the past. Its like shining a spotlight into the life you have led thus far.
You get to see what you may have missed and overlooked in the past. You get to
press the rewind button on what you previously lived through, but from an observers
perspective this time.

In other words, we get a second chance to correct and shift the past.

When we say that a planet is retrograde, it is purely from our perspective here on Earth.
We have an Earth centric view of the cosmos. So lets be clear, a retrograde does not
mean that Mercury is travelling backwards around the Sun in our solar system. It only
appears to be doing so (visually) from here on Earth.

OUR TILT
How so? Well, its all to do with Earths tilt. We are like a big spinning top. Earth tilts on its
axis by approximately 23 degrees. This tilt gives us the seasons across the globe. It takes
365 days for Earth to revolve around the Sun and only 88 days for Mercury to do this.

Approximately every quarter (or every three months) we experience a Mercury Retrograde.
Earth appears to take over from Mercury in its revolution around the Sun.

The retrograde action is similar to driving along a highway and over taking the car next to
you. At first the car next to you appears to stop, as you become level. Then it appears to
move behind you, as you move ahead and over take. This is what actually happens in a
retrograde.

YOU BECOME THE MESSENGER

When Mercury is retrograde, we here on Earth take over as the primary messengers in our
solar system. Do you like that idea? Do you resonate with becoming responsible for
creating clear and direct communication and passing on messages from soul?

Mercury is depicted as the winged messenger, the one who brings swift and important
information from the stars.

During a Mercury Retrograde you get this important role given to you.

WHY I LOVE MERCURY RETROGRADE AND WHY YOU CAN TOO

The information I am sharing with you comes directly from my first-hand experience over
many years. You will therefore, not find it written anywhere else. My interpretations will
likely be very different to others you will read regarding Mercury Retrograde.

I have come to know that the Mercury Retrograde season is amongst the most cosmically
powerful available to us each year. This period pushes and moves us to clear up any
uncertainty, doubt and confusion around communication and messages from our
past in particular.

PHYSICAL UPGRADES
When Mercury is in retrograde we can be physically altered and upgraded. Our brain
becomes highly charged and activated and therefore, physical symptoms are quite
common in the lead up to, after and during the actual retrograde.

Be aware of:
Headaches and migraines. Your brain is processing copious amounts of
information, analysing, sorting and collating solutions to outstanding communication
issues. Some people find it overwhelming when information comes in all at once and
they can block their flow by resisting change. This may lead to tension headaches,
anxiousness and in serious cases of resistance, it could lead to migraines.

Up your water intake. Double or triple the amount of water you drink before, during
and after the Mercury Retrograde. This will ensure your body is well hydrated and
able to cope with the extra charge of electricity (created by an increase in mental
energy) flowing through you and carried via the nervous system to your cells.

Slight dizziness and feeling off balance. During the actual retrograde you may
feel like the Earth is moving slightly beneath your feet. Its important to stay
grounded and connected in order that you can carry out the changes you need to
make during this period.

To ground yourself during Mercury Retrograde
Take your shoes off and connect with the Earth. Put your bare feet on the floor or
even better directly into the dirt, sand or grass for a few minutes each day.
Put your feet in salt water. The beach is perfect for this or you can use a large bowl
of warm water with rock or Epsom salts in it. You can do this while you are on the
computer (reading this). Salt or sugar scrubs work wonderfully well in the shower or
bath.
Walk, run or move. As your blood flow increases your circulation will improve.
Close your eyes and imagine you are drawing energy up through your feet and out
via the crown. You'll feel a tingling in your feet and legs as you do this.
Eat root vegetables or any good hearty produce that was grown in the dirt.
Play with an animal. They are naturally grounded and their presence will re-calibrate
and balance you.

Mercury Retrograde becomes a very mental period, as our brains are triggered to deeply
think and consider many possibilities at once. We are processing thoughts at lightening
speed.

We can actually have a greater perspective on our life during Mercury Retrograde.

During a Mercury Retrograde we are:

Sharper with eyesight and intellect.
More focused and driven.
Like cosmic detectives, uncovering clues and not backing down.
Asking the tough questions we would normally avoid or shy away from.
More open minded and able to speak our truth.
Charged up in the throat chakra. Your voice will push forth and want to be heard.
Direct and to the point.

DISCERNMENT IS A MAJOR THEME

During the Mercury Retrograde season you will be making very distinct choices, based on
the messages you are both receiving and giving. As you will now be a messenger of the
cosmos, this implies that you are urged to be open, honest and direct in your
approach to ALL conversations. At other times of the year we may find it easy to brush
aside our truth. Or you may have difficulty in determining which way to go in relation to
what you do or do not say. Not so, during a Mercury Retrograde.

Discernment is a major theme. This means working on your ability to act on what is most
in alignment with your core needs. It means aligning head and heart, so that the head is
able to follow clearly, the desires of the heart, without overriding and getting its own way. In
other words during the Mercury Retrograde you will get lots of practice at hearing
your soul (which speaks to you via the chamber of the physical heart).

Your souls voice often comes through as your gut instinct speaking. This is your inner
knowing telling you when something is right or wrong for you. Most people simply do not
act on what they feel or hear within.

To develop discernment, you simply start acting on your hunches and the feelings that soul
is urging you towards. You let the heart override the head and see how awesome life
becomes when you do so.

The Mercury Retrograde helps you to develop discernment that supports your
growth.

You will be learning to act on decisions based upon what your heart desires. This will be
what is best for your growth, rather than what you think you should be doing. There is a big
difference between the two and the more you can make firm and supportive decisions
during this period, the greater will be your expansion and release from fear. The greater will
also be your personal acceleration and freedom.

Mercury loves you to be independent, empowered, aware and free.

IMPORTANT DATES:
THE MERCURY RETROGRADE SEASON AUGUST SEPTEMBER 2016

NB: This Mercury Retrograde Season occurs during The Eclipse Season.
We can expect the energy to be intense daily, full of opportunity to grow and expand.

Pre-Shadow Phase: August 10 until 29

Mercury Retrograde: August 30 until September 21/22

Halfway mark of the Mercury Retrograde: September 10

Mercury Retrograde Completes: September 21/22

Post Shadow Phase: September 22/23 until October 6

THE PRE-SHADOW PHASE: August 10 to 29

In the lead up to Mercury Retrograde we begin mental, physical and spiritual preparation
some two weeks prior. This is called the pre-shadow phase of the retrograde. This is a very
important phase for you to take note of and remember well.

During this phase, the major themes that arise for you daily will be your personal
themes to work on during the upcoming retrograde.

So during this pre-shadow phase take note of:

Who pops into your life? Particularly whom you are thinking about constantly.
What major dealings are taking up each day?
What new projects are you involved with?
What are you uncertain about?
Who comes back from you past?
What you are thinking about consistently?

SUGGESTION:
Make notes in your diary, journal or notebook of what is happening each day during the
pre-shadow phase. This way when the retrograde begins, you will be ready and aware of
what to expect. You will be looking for your answers and will know exactly what personal
themes you are working on.

CHECK IN WITH THE TIP-OFF
Also check in daily with The Tip-Off Forecast, as there will be other cosmic influences at
play affecting you, particularly the ECLIPSE SEASON.

THE MERCURY RETROGRADE: August 30 September 21/22

The actual Mercury Retrograde begins just after the pre-shadow ends. It lasts for three
weeks and is when all of the hands-on communication work takes place. I call this period,
The Mercury Retrograde (proper).

IMPORTANT MILESTONES DURING THE MERCURY RETROGRADE (proper)

REVIEW PERIOD FIRST 11 DAYS: August 30 until September 10

The first 11 days of the Mercury Retrograde entails the uncovering and major review
period. You are like a cosmic detective, discovering previously overlooked information.

HALFWAY MARK OF THE MERCURY RETROGRADE: September 10

This is an important check-in point. We have now been through the detailed uncovering
and research period of the Mercury Retrograde (often the hardest on people). On this day
the energy starts to lift, as we feel a fire growing in our belly and an insatiable urge to start
taking positive and assertive action.

ACTION PERIOD FINAL 10 DAYS: September 11 until September 21/22

The final 10 days of the Mercury Retrograde is the action period. You will move on what
you uncovered during the first 11 days of the review period.

THEN, AFTER THE MERCURY RETROGRADE

THE POST SHADOW PHASE: September 22/23 until October 6

In the immediate weeks after the Mercury Retrograde has ended, we are still assimilating
all we have learned during the retrograde. This is called the post-shadow phase. During
this period you have what I call a second chance. Youll get to put to bed any lingering
issues that you didnt get time to sort out during the actual Mercury Retrograde.

PRACTICAL CONSIDERATIONS DURING THE MERCURY RETROGRADE (proper)

NB: The below considerations apply to the actual three weeks of the Mercury
Retrograde (August 30 September 21/22) and not to the pre or post shadow
phases.

Mechanical Equipment/Electricals/Computers
Mercury holds reign over communications and all electrical and mechanical fields.
Therefore, all electrical and mechanical equipment is usually affected in some way when
Mercury is in retrograde. Plus, our body electrics are also affected (see my section on
pages 3 and 4 regarding the physical changes).

By affected I refer to:

Equipment could malfunction or play up.

Its a good period to clean up your databases and ensure you have backup
procedures in place.

Check your home/office wiring/lighting systems.

Get anything fixed that is old or shoddy or that you have been meaning to correct for
a while. Change light bulbs, fittings, batteries etc.

Back-up all computers and devices during the PRE-SHADOW phase and right
before Mercury goes retrograde.

Research and look into the new appliances etc. you have been meaning to learn
more about.

Its an excellent period to research new computer software and hardware.

Do your homework and decide if you need an upgrade.

I suggest waiting until after Mercury Retrograde is complete to make the actual
changes you wish to implement with electrical equipment. Why? So that you dont
get any bugs or little surprises arising over the coming months.

Contracts/Legal Proceedings
Do you like flexibility? Are you often changing your mind and need more time to feel
comfortable with a decision? Well, if so, Mercury Retrograde may be a good time in which
to initiate a contract or some sort of legal proceeding or arrangement.

As nothing is set in stone during the Mercury Retrograde, the papers or documents
that you sign, initiate or close off may be up for review down the track. This
usually opens up again at the next Mercury Retrograde in three months.

For some people this is great. It means they have a second chance to go back in
and correct oversights they may not have been originally aware of. You also get to
make improvements and important changes.

For other people, to settle on contracts and legal matters during a Mercury
Retrograde may not give them the security they desire. You decide.

You may need determined and lasting decisions that will not be up for review again.

So choose wisely what you enter into during this period.

Go in with your eyes open. Make your own choices.

Homes/Moving/Buying/Selling/Renting
Researching a living arrangement, be it existing, old or new is ideal under a Mercury
Retrograde. Why?

You will have a sharper instinct.

Your intuition is honed and your mental activity is high.

You will ask the tough questions that you may normally brush aside or do not have
the courage to raise during other periods of the year.

These are desirable qualities to embody when deciding where you live.

Contracts may take longer to negotiate under a Mercury Retrograde.

It can be a good time to buy or sell, just keep in mind you need to be flexible and
open to change.

Look out for:
Building Homes/Apartments/Extending/Renovating etc. It is best to leave
signing final contracts until after the Mercury Retrograde has ended (post shadow
phase is fine).

Why? Too many unforeseen issues may arise down the track if you do not. For
example, there could be expenses or simple drawings and plans being
misunderstood or misinterpreted. This can be costly in time, money and energy for
you.

Buying or Renting Homes/Apartments/ Land again do all of your research

during the Mercury Retrograde.

Its best to wait until the retrograde has finished (post shadow phase is fine) to
jump in and commit to a new proposal. Unless of course you want total flexibility as
you may decide to change or get out of a contract or lease agreement in the future.
If this is the case, signing during Mercury Retrograde can be advantageous for you,
as there will most certainly be some changes in your living arrangements over the
proceeding three to four months.

Relationships/Communication
This is an area that Mercury loves to help you overhaul, re-kindle, re-invigorate and re-
assess from the ground up. You will notice during the pre-shadow phase of the
retrograde that people from your past keep popping back into your thoughts. Yes? This pull
to the past may become so strong and such a palpable connection that you jump online to
Facebook or Twitter and find out where they are, or what they are up to. Or you may feel
like reaching out and sending an email, text or making a call.

Ex-Partners/Friends/Family
There could be some people like ex partners, friends you have broken off with or estranged
family members that may pop back in. Be ready for this. You could become concerned
that there is a problem when they keep coming back into your life this way. However, it is
perfectly normal during a Mercury Retrograde to be drawn back to past relationships. Why?

There is something within that old relationship that is still holding you back.
There is a message from the other person waiting for you to pick up.
There is insight and release coming that you previously overlooked or missed.
The other person still needs closure. They are thinking about you.

Now just because you are thinking of someone, does not mean you need to physically see
them or even talk to them. Consider that it may be enough just to acknowledge the
relationship and how far you have come, what you have learnt and how you have grown
since you are no longer together.

Show gratitude for what was and what now is. This can be enough for some people to
close the energy off and allow an energetic new start. I have seen this process play out
successfully with my clients, time and time again.

During Mercury Retrograde we can get to Observe from Afar

Perhaps you cross paths with someone from your past. You are driving and notice
them walking down the street, for example. You see them, but they do not see you.
Sound familiar?
Perhaps there is some relief on your part that you are not meeting face to face?
Perhaps you want to avoid a confrontation or you are not sure of what you would
say?

If this happens to you, appreciate that Mercury is helping you to reflect and let go of the
past. It is sometimes enough just to observe another and your reactions and feelings to
this, without having to drag up the past again in lengthy drawn out conversations. This
example of simply observing from afar is a very common occurrence during the retrograde.
It is one I encourage you to embrace and give thanks for.

Working it out
If you still have lingering issues to work through with someone, then there may well be
physical contact required. In which case, welcome it in during the Mercury Retrograde.
Why? Well, because you will be more open and honest during these three weeks than
at any other period of the year.

Have a straightforward chat regarding what you are still processing.

Allow each other to speak. Rather than wishing it would go away. Let it happen.
You are drawn back together for a reason. Work it out by using your voice, your
questions and your answers.
Let yourself be released and healed by having the courage to speak.
If the other person does not wish to communicate, then use your instinct to say or do
what you need and be happy with this.
You may well get another chance at the next Mercury Retrograde to further close the
energy between you.

 At each Mercury Retrograde that comes around it gets easier for us to open up,
particularly when you understand the relationship intricacies that come into play.
It is the best time of the year to close off niggling issues from your past with others.
Put it to bed and gain great insight, all at the same time.
Relationship healing is to be embraced during a Mercury Retrograde, as it will clean
up and clear out your life. This paves the way for conscious and aware relationships
going forward.

Business Dealings
I love Mercury Retrogrades for cleaning, sorting and collating the administrative, grass
roots and communicative side of business. It is an excellent period to update and sort out
databases and reporting in particular. You will also find that because Mercury deals with
the passing on of messages, it is a brilliant period to overhaul the visual look and
content of all advertising and marketing for business.

Look into:
Clean up websites/blogs/social media accounts and content.

Look at what you have written or displayed and overhaul with fresh eyes.

You may want to reserve registering a new business or making substantial

changes to an existing one during this period. Why? For the same reason I have
listed under contracts/legal proceedings and home considerations.

Any agreement entered into under a Mercury Retrograde will be up for change and
renewal over its entire lifecycle.

Now this may be excellent for some people who want to remain fresh and ever
changing in their business or work. Other people may prefer to have not so many
fast paced changes in their business and therefore, hold off until Mercury has moved
direct again before making fundamental business changes.

Many successful businesses have begun under a Mercury Retrograde, so go

ahead if you feel so called. Your work and business will be tested and asked to stay
flexible and ever changing for as long as the business exists.

Your business will be called to be innovative and strong on customer relations

and communications when begun or changed under a Mercury Retrograde. Which is
actually an essential for any business.

 If your business is selling, merging, changing owners etc. the same rules apply as
above. If you want a clean, no mess, no second-guessing deal, then wait until after
Mercury Retrograde ends. If you want to leave the door open and the ability to
change your mind down the track, then initiating change whilst Mercury is in
retrograde may suit you better.

If you are making career moves or seeking new employment under a Mercury
Retrograde, this is an excellent time for interviews and putting your CV forward. You
will gain great insight into what you need to experience in your work and career, as
you feel free to explore your options.

The Mercury Retrograde is also an excellent period in which to research ideas, plans
and projects for a new business or self-employment. Open up the line of
communication and initiate talks.

Spiritual Advancement
You can learn so much about your inner workings and motivations during a Mercury
Retrograde. Many people will be forced to take a good strong look at who they are from the
inside out. Your thinking will quicken and hence, many ideas will be merging from soul to
your brain to be processed via the personality. Your creativity will rise and I urge you to
use all of the mental energy you generate by diving into hands on creative, artistic projects
and pursuits each day.

In particular, take note of:

Reflective thoughts about way your life has unfolded to date. Are you judging
yourself or others? Are you looking back with an eye to healing from the great insight
you are receiving?
Write down and record the light bulb moments and flashes of personal insights you
will receive. Do this daily. This acknowledgement advances you spiritually, as you
take full responsibility for your part in previous interactions and life dealings with
others.

Sense of Humour Your Seventh Sense

Mercury tickles our sense of humour and loves playing little tricks on us. Its energy leads
us into the heart and away from draining mental angst. The Mercury Retrograde will
quicken you mentally. Your challenge is to use that increased force to drive you
further into integrity and away from flippancy. Its not always easy to do, yet so
rewarding when you succeed.

You can think of Mercury as the court jester of old or the joker in a pack of cards, urging us
to not take life too seriously. Actually Mercury is similar to a playful puppy too, docile
one minute and stirring you the next.

Many years ago I was having a chat with my guides in spirit and I learned of the seventh
sense. My guides told me that the seventh sense is our sense of humour and that it
was far more important than our sixth sense or psychic perception. As each year
passes, I learn that this couldnt be truer.

When we make light of life, we literally do flood ourselves with that light. Light raises our
vibration, which is the rate at which our cells move. Hence, the faster our rate of vibration,
the less chance for toxic build up and pain to exist. The lighter we are, the easier life
becomes, as we sync up with natures flow, going with it, rather than fighting and resisting
against it.

Travel
Travelling during a Mercury Retrograde is always an interesting experience.

You can expect plans to change in the moment, with little or no warning.

It is essential that you drop your need to control and remain flexible and open-
minded. You will have a true adventure. Follow your intuition.

You are being shown that when you allow the universe to step in and align with you,
the very best holiday/vacation or travel experience comes about.

Sometimes we think we know where we should be heading and yet soul has other
plans for us.

If you need an iron clad date and time for your travel, then wait until after Mercury
Retrograde to book or change arrangements.

We learn trust from travel and new adventures during a Mercury Retrograde.

Cars/Bikes/Transport
Transport (being related to all things travel) is also highlighted during a Mercury
Retrograde.

During the Mercury Retrograde:

Getting your car/bike serviced is a good idea.

Issues that were not previously picked up will be more easily identified.

Its better to know the full story of what is or is not working.

Look into new routes and new modes of transport. Choose a different route to work.

Walk around your neighborhood and discover what you have previously been
missing.

Its also an excellent period to have a look around for a new vehicle, bike, boat etc.

Do lots of research and you will be ready to roll once the retrograde is complete.
