Writing Clear, Effective Policies and Procedures

Adobe Photoshop CS5 - Basic
This seminar will teach basic Photoshop techniques using a PC platform. Techniques learned can be transferred to the Mac platform as well. A hands-on approach will teach you the basic features of the program which include an overview of Photoshop tools, and creating and manipulating images. MS Word 2010 - Intro MS Excel 2010 - Basic


This one-day seminar will teach basic spreadsheet techniques using Microsoft Excel for Windows. A hands-on approach will teach you the basic features of the program which include creating and printing worksheets, creating formulas, copying and moving cells, and manipulating rows, columns, and charts. Prerequisite: Basic knowledge of Windows is recommended. In this one-day seminar, you will learn the basic techniques that MS Word has to offer. Partnered with Midwest Energy Association (MEA)
Federal law, through the Office of Pipeline Safety (OPS), requires all pipeline operators to develop, implement and maintain a written Operator Qualification (OQ) program for individuals performing covered tasks on pipeline facilities. The intent of this ruling is to ensure a qualified work force and to reduce the probability and consequence of incidents caused by human error. This Train the Evaluator session is tailored to meet the needs of these operators who must comply with this mandate. Grant Seeking for Beginners
Prerequisite: None. This workshop is designed for individuals with little or no grants experience who want to know how to get started seeking and obtaining grant funding. There are many common misconceptions regarding grant funding. For example, many believe that grants provide free money and are a cure-all for funding shortfalls. However, applying for and securing grant funding requires research about funding requirements and close attention to eligibility restrictions. Grant Seeking for Beginners will walk participants through the grant seeking process from finding grant opportunities to closing out the grant award.

Creating a Persuasive Grant Proposal


Prerequisite: A basic understanding of the grant seeking process. While there will be a brief overview of the grant seeking process, this workshop is specifically designed for individuals who want to strengthen their grant writing skills. Many innovative grant projects have been rejected due to a confusing or unpersuasive proposal. Grant reviewers read proposals and make funding decisions very quickly, so proposals need to articulate the project clearly and concisely, demonstrate that the organization has the capacity to complete the project, and make a connection with reviewers.

Advanced Grant Writing Workshop: Peer Review


Prerequisite: Participants must submit in advance a draft of a grant proposal or brief white paper for a grant project (5 pages single-spaced maximum) to be critiqued during the workshop. E-mail the proposal: holly.valentine@nwtc.edu Seasoned grant writers know the value of feedback from others before submission. In this workshop, participants will submit a draft of a proposal or white paper and, after a brief grant writing refresher, will be put into small groups to review proposals and offer suggestions for improvement. After the peer review process, the participants will join in a large group discussion to share best practices.

NWTC and ClarityCare are partnering to offer this training series, designed for staff of community-based residential facilities (CBRFs). These state-approved courses are intended to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to effectively and safely work with clients in a CBRF facility setting.

Dementia Specialist: Best Practice for Direct Care Workers


The Wisconsin Alzheimers Association Chapter Network has long identified the need for consistent and timely education to benefit persons affected by dementia. This two-day Dementia Specialist program offers creative and interactive learning with many opportunities for networking and team building. The program promotes state-of-the-art person-centered care. At the completion of the program, participants will receive a certificate designating 15 contact hours of continuing education.

Public Safety Media Relations Basic Course

A one-day basic training program, Win With The Media! Public safety officers and their departments can win with the media; this training shows you how. [If your Homeland Security crisis preparedness plan doesnt include preparation for the media, youre not ready!] You will learn how to deal with reporters in a wide range of circumstances from routine day-to-day inquiries to challenging interviews and many media contacts in between. This is practical training, not theoretical; what you learn will work for you on the street, right away. Students get an in-depth, inside look at how and why the media do what they do, and learn how to take charge of reporters rather than being victimized by them. Two dozen videos illustrate key teaching points, informing and entertaining the class: you will learn valuable strategies and tactics, and you will have fun doing it! The bottom line: this training helps public safety officers become far more comfortable and effective with the media, teaches you useful media skills and controls, and enables you to enjoy better media relations and better public relations. While designed specifically for the woman officer, the winning mindset and survival skills taught here would benefit any law enforcement professional. RGI Conflict Resolution

The RGI Conflict Resolution course is a three day intensive training experience for protector professionals who want to enhance their ability to resolve physical, verbal and cross-cultural conflict.
