OLD TIMERS HORSE SHOW- The 4-H Horse Program
Development Committee is hosting an Old Timers Show to
benefit the Washington County 4-H Horse Program. The event
will be held on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at the Washington

gins at 8:30. The event will feature four divisions by riders
age, 18-29, 30-39, 40+, and Walk/Trot. The fee is $5 per class.

COMMUNITY CELEBRATION FOR GATEWAY

VISITOR CENTER- A public ceremony and frame raising
will take place on Friday, June 16 for the new Champlain
Canal Region Gateway Visitor Center near Fort Hardy Park
in the Village of Schuylerville. This event will highlight
the variety of partners and work involved in constructing
this exciting new center of tourism for the area. The event
will begin at 11:00am at the front of the construction site
facing Ferry Street/Route 29 in Schuylerville. Following
the event, partner organizations will be on hand at a
community festival space onsite to celebrate the new center.
While parts of the construction site and neighboring road
will be restricted for safety, participants are encouraged to
access the parking lot at Fort Hardy Park by way of
Saratoga Street off of Broad in Schuylerville.
GOURMET DINNER TO BENEFIT HAYNES HOUSE-Savor an authentic Tuscan dinner in a
beautifully restored barn at 6 p.m. on July 16, 2017, when Dancing Ewe Farm in North Granville
presents a memorable gourmet dinner to benefit the Haynes House of Hope. The setting for the four-
course dinner is much like a local Trattoria in Tuscany. A limited number of tickets will be sold,
creating a very intimate dining experience. Dinner will consist of Aperitivo, Antipasto, Primo Piatto,
Secondo Piatto con Contorno, Dolce and wine from the Maremma region of Tuscany, imported by
Dancing Ewe (one bottle per couple). In addition, guests can tour the farm, see the cheese house, the
sheep and the working sheep dogs. Dancing Ewe Farm is owned and operated by Jody and Luisa
Somers. The couple breeds East Friesian sheep for their milk, which is used in the production of
authentic Italian cheeses. Luisa is a native of Tuscany. She brings her family recipes to the Dancing

CELEBRATE FRANCO-AMERICAN HERITAGE- Sunday, June 25, at 3 pm, La Fdration
Franco-Amricaine du NY will honor the Qubec holiday Saint-Jean-Baptiste at our annual Mass
in French, led by Fr. Jeffrey LArche, at St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 119 Broad Street,
Waterford, NY. The liturgy and hymns will be in French; the homily, in French and English. The
tradition of honoring St. Jean in late June came to North America with the French colonists, who
first celebrated on the banks of the St. Lawrence River on June 23, 1636, with a bonfire and
cannon shots . This free event is open to all; those attending Mass are invited to a reception
immediately afterwards in the parish hall.
