with multiple specializations. The course is positioned to cater to needs of a rapidly transforming
India where Developmental challenges are not limited to rural areas; indeed, the rural-urban
continuum has made it virtually impossible to speak of rural or urban spaces in isolation. This
programme aims at preparing professionals for a challenging career in public, private sectors,
NGOs, and national and multinational organizations who are committed to erasing rural-urban
inequities by promoting "rurban" infrastructure and amenities that emphasize a growing
confluence of cities and the countryside.
When are the key attributes and course design of MBA-RM (with multiple specializations)?

The primary objective is to facilitate integrative learning in the deepest sense of the term, so that
graduates are able to walk into professional roles with ease, and play a vital role both at both the
operational and strategic level in their jobs. The specializations (in areas of high demand) aim to
improve the marketability and reach of a degree programme in management and development
practice to enable the students the ability to hit the ground running in the professional world that
demands specialized inputs. To achieve this, the course outline of the IIHMR MBA (RM) strikes
a balance between three things:

Critical thinking, active engagement with multiple stakeholders, and lateral thinking that
allow students to think practically and strategically.
Foundational managerial skills associated with development praxis, ideally for all sectors
(government, civil society sector, and private sector); and more specifically, those skills
relevant for the specializations that the students choose.
Strong fieldwork and organizational skills based on off-campus learning experiences so
that once they graduate, students can hit the ground running.

In addition to this, three areas remain critical to all that the students learn:

A stress on written and oral communication.

A comfort with the use of technology in all areas.
Leadership skills.
