10. A soft drink machine has been controlled to produce soft drink in a glass whereby
the volume of soft drink in the glass is normally distributed with standard
deviation 15 ml. Find 95% confidence intervals for the mean volume of the soft
drink in a glass if a random sample of 25 glasses yield average volume equals 225
ml. How many samples are required if we want to have 95% confidence that the
sample mean is within 9 ml. from the true mean?

11. It is known that the variance tensile strength of thread produced by Factory A is
51b, while the tensile strenght of thread produced by Factory B is 31b. 10 threads
are selected at random from Factory A and B which yielded mean strenght of 12
and 9lb, respectively. Estimate 95% confidence intervals of the difference
between mean strenght of Factory A and B?

12. A researcher would like to estimate the mean number of timber per acre in a
jungle. Determine how many tree per acre that need to be investigated if he wants
95% confidence that the difference between the sample mean and population
mean is within 3 trees per acre. Experiences shows that 2 = 12 trees per acre?

13. The dean of a faculty wishes to estimat the mean number of papers publish by the
lectures of that faculty. How many lectures should be chosen to estimate if the
sample mean of papers is required to be within 0.75 from the true mean, with 0.99
