FORMS
For Columns
Method: Fajardos technique
Aim: Obtain minimum number of plywood sheets.
Calculation:
For Column 1,
Total number of column1 = 14
Height = 2.8 0.3 + 0.6 + 0.65 = 3.75
Formula: P1 = 2(a + b) + 0.20
P1 = 2 (0.3 + 0.3) + 0.20 = 1.4 m (lateral perimeter of column)
Area1 = P1 x H x No. of Columns = 1.4 x 3.75 x 14 = 73.5 sq. m.
For Column 2,
Total number of column2 = 6
Height = 2.8 0.3 + 0.6 + 0.65 = 3.75
Formula: P2 = 2( a + b ) + 0.20
P2 = 2 ( 0.3 + 0.3 ) + 0.20 = 1.4 m (lateral perimeter of column)
Area2 = P2 x H x No. of Columns = 1.4 x 3.75 x 6 = 31.5 sq. m.
Area1 + Area2 = 73.5 sq.m. + 31.5 sq. m. = 105 sq.m.
105
= 36.45 say 1.2m x 2.4m 1/2

For Beams
Method: Fajardos technique
Aim: Obtain minimum number of plywood sheets.
Calculation:
Total length of beam 1,2,3,4,5,6 &12= 100.6m
Formula: P = 2(d) + b + 0.10
P = 2(0.3) + 0.25 + 0.1 = 0.95 sq. m.
Area = P x total length of beam = 0.95 x 100.6 = 95.57 sq. m.
95.57
= 33.18 say 34 sheets1.2m x 2.4m 1/2
2.88
Total Length of beam 7,8,9,10 &11= 22.15m
Formula: P = 2(d) + b + 0.10
P = 2(0.3) + 0.2 + 0.1 = 0.90 sq. m.
Area = P x total length of beam = 0.90 x 22.15 = 19.94 sq. m.
19.94
2.88
= 6.92 say 7 sheets1.2m x 2.4m 1/2
Thus, 34 sheets + 7 sheets = 41 1.2m x 2.4m 1/2

Beams
Method: Fajardos technique (Table 5-3,Fajardo)
Aim: Obtain minimum number of lumber in wood frames.
Calculation:
Total length of beam = 100.6m + 22.15m = 122.75m
Vertical support = 122.75 x 4.0 = 491 say 491 bd. Ft.
Horizontal support = 122.75 x 4.7 = 576.93 say 577bd. ft.
Total : 1067.93 say 1068 bd. Ft
