Title: Animated Book Reviews

Grade Level: Middle School (Grades 6-8)

Subject Area: ELA, Technology

Learning Objective: Students will be able to create animated book reviews.


Students will pick their favorite book so far this year and use
the classroom IPads & the Tellagami Application to create
their animations.

Common Core Standards:


ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS
Standard 4. Produce clear and coherent writing in which the
development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose,
and audience.
Standard 5. Develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning,
revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach.
Standard 6. Use technology, including the Internet, to produce and
publish writing and to interact and collaborate with others.

SPEAKING & LISTENING


Standard 5. Presentation of Knowledge & Ideas
Standard 5.5. Include multimedia components (e.g., graphics, sound)
& visual displays in presentations when appropriate to enhance the
development of main ideas or themes.
Standard 6.5. Include multimedia components (e.g., graphics, images,
music, and sound) and visual displays in presentations to clarify
information.

Materials: IPad
Tellagami Application (already downloaded)
Favorite Book
Procedure: 1. Choose a book that so far is your favorite
2. Create a book review for the class
3. Using the animation program application Tellagami create an
animated book review

Demonstration of Learning (DOL): Completed animation projects will be


presented to Reading Buddies in Primary Grade Levels for vertical articulation.
Animated Book Review
Directions
We have been reading many books over the course of the year. Today
you will choose a book that, so far is your favorite and create a book
review for the class using the animation program application Tellagami
which has been downloaded in you IPad.
Below are the steps to take to complete the assignment:

2. Review your ideas and create a draft of your book review.

3. Use the Directions for Tellagami:


-Open application and click create
-Click on character and then customize your character
(adjusting body/wardrobe features)
-Give your character an emotion
-Add a background that is appropriate for your book review
-Click BACK to view your character & background and
choose a voice.
*you can record your own voice or type in your
message for a computerized one.
-Click SHARE and then you can save the animation to the
camera roll and email it to me at jpergola@jcboe.org
