Pastors Corner
Ive got great news to share this week, which is that our church administrator, Jill Teaford,
just sent in our very last mortgage check! Our church is officially debt free for the first time in
many years; hurrah! I want to thank everyone who has contributed to any of our mortgages
over the years, and especially thank the people who have been so faithful these past few
years to pay off this mortgage years early.
All who have contributed to the mortgage are invited to continue to give to what is called
The Building Fund on the contribution envelope. It will no longer go toward the mortgage,
obviously, but it will help to build up the capital reserves of the church which have been
greatly depleted with all the projects happening around the church lately. In fact, it is up to everyone
contributing toward the mortgage to decide how to designate their continued giving. If you make no changes,
your funds will go toward the capital reserves.
If you would rather redirect your giving toward the general fund, you may choose to do that as well by simply
combining your former mortgage giving with your general giving to the church. Either way, your contributions
will be gratefully accepted and well-used for the Kingdoms work here at ESUMC.
As we near the halfway point in the calendar year, we find ourselves running a deficit in our general giving by
about $39,000 (expenses exceeding income). I have confidence that we can catch up in our giving and end
the year with a balanced budget with everyone stepping up and doing his or her part financially. In the
summer, many churches experience a dip in giving because congregation members are away on vacation. An
easy way to overcome summer deficits is to invite more people to take advantage of electronic giving through
ACH and EFT transfers, and through using our online tools. If interested, please go on our website:

I give thanks for the many acts of faithfulness on the part of our
congregation. So many of you truly give of your time, talents, spiritual
gifts, and monetary gifts, and it lifts my heart in thanksgiving. Returning
to the paid-off mortgage for a moment, we will be delighted to welcome
our Bishop, Peggy A. Johnson, on Sunday, September 24, 2017, to help
us celebrate our mortgage burning. Please put this important date on
your calendar now and make sure you're here for a great celebration. In
the meantime, celebrate what God is doing in our midst and give thanks
for all His blessings toward us, and how He has called us to be a
Lord, we do place our trust in you, for you alone

 Safe Sanctuary Training. This
training is required yearly for any
person volunteering or working with
children or youth. If you missed Saturday,
June 17 the next session is Sunday, June 25
from 12:30pm-2:00pm. Please attend if you
plan on working with children or youth. This
training will take place in the large Sunday
School area downstairs in the church. A light
lunch will be provided on Sunday, June 25.

ESUMC has an opening
for a SUNDAY CHURCH
SEXTON
The Sexton is
responsible for opening
and closing and securing the church facility
before and after Sunday church activity. To
check facilities are stocked at beginning and
end of shift. Set up and tear down chairs,
tables and equipment in rooms as
requested. Light maintenance as
required. Maintain church grounds are
clean. Remove snow from steps and
walkways as required. The job is 6 hours a
week, 7am-1pm Sundays. There are
occasional weddings and funerals that will
require Saturday hours.
Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED
preferred, ability to receive instructions and
accomplish tasks independently; ability to
organize and work with volunteers and the
church community effectively; ability to work in
poor weather conditions; neat appearance and
high moral standards and conduct and a
willingness to work in a Christian environment.

I Dont Know You!
As I look around our church on a
Sunday morning, I see many people
that I do not know! I recognize faces,
knowing that these folks attend often,
but I do not have a name attached to
each face! I would like to know the
name of each person! If you already have a lanyard-style name tag,
would you be more faithful about wearing it? If you do not have a
name tag, would you sign the sheet on the name tag table in
Oberholtzer Hall so I can provide one for you? Wearing name tags
helps us get to know each other. As we get to know each other better,
we can grow in our love and concern for each other and better be the
family of God that He intends for us to be!

amazing news that we will be receiving a large sum of
money from the estate of John Kistler. Will you commit
to pray on a regular basis for Gods guidance for our
church leaders? Your prayers will unify the responsible
teams and pave the way for Gods divine guidance!
Dollar ChallengeUnited Methodist Women
The May Challenge is paper products for VBS. Needed-
napkins, 9 ounce cups, clear plastic cups, paper towels ,
small and large paper plates. These items are available at
most dollar stores in the area. I hope everyone who has
been participating continues, and that new people join this great and
easy ministry. Put items in basket in Oberholtzer Hall.
