Paying Homage to our Surroundings: Two exhibits at Wasagaming Community Arts

WASAGAMING, Manitoba (May 27, 2016) Wasagaming Community Arts is kicking off the Season on
Friday, June 3, 2016 from 7 9 pm with two exhibits, both artists whose works are inspired by Riding
Mountain National Park and Nature. The Built Environment of Riding Mountain, by Gary Hawthorne,
focuses on the beauty of the architecture within the Park in his ink drawings. In Contrast, Highway 10
Revisited, by Glen Snider, is a series of colourful Acrylic Landscape Paintings. Musical Guest Jaimie Rose
will be performing.

Gary Hawthorne explores the architecture of the Park in his show, The Built Environment of Riding
Mountain. Using only ink, he renders the buildings beautifully in order to share his experiences with
others. There is a calming feel to them, as no humans are present in any of the drawings.

Glen Snider utilises colour in his acrylic paintings in his show, Highway 10 Revisited. The series is
inspired by Clear Lake and Surrounding Area, focusing on the landscapes within Manitoba. Using loose
brushstrokes and comforting colours, Snider shares his interpretation of the landscapes surrounding the
area.

Gallery Hours are 10 am 6 pm daily, from June 3 through September Long Weekend.
