Project Description
An Elementary Education Teacher Trainer with a Masters degree in Elementary Education and
2-3 years of practical teaching experience at the university level is needed to teach at a public
university in Liberia. The university registers around 250-300 new students each year. However,
as it is a government-owned institution, it usually cannot afford to hire additional qualified and
experienced faculty who will be able to provide quality learning experiences to students. The
Response Volunteer is seen not only as a support in the needed number of faculty that will
handle classes but it is most seen as a support in the professional development program for
the faculty who need mentoring and exposure in terms of other learning styles, techniques,
and methodologies, not to mention content.
The Elementary Education Teacher Trainer will be expected to prepare lesson plans and
perform lectures, help set up the demonstration rooms for elementary education, provide
mentoring and training of faculty on new trends, techniques, and methodologies, and assess
students and tailor lessons to their needs. They may also be expected to provide support to
community outreach programs and support an effective learning environment at the university
level. By the end of this assignment, the Response Volunteer should have submitted his/her
grade sheet on time, followed and administered the prescribed syllabi for all courses taught,
made an assessment of his/her experience of the University, and submitted a detailed end of
assignment report outlining success, challenges, and recommendations to improve the
program.
Please note; these are approximate departure dates and might change.
