COURSE OUTLINE

I. Course Code : CIRCIT1

II. Course Title : Circuits 1
III. Prerequisite : Physics 2 and Integral Calculus
IV. Co-requisite : Differential Equations
V. Course Credit : 4 units (3 units lecture and 1 unit laboratory)
VI. Course Description :
Fundamental relationships in circuit theory, mesh and node equations; resistive networks,
network theorems; solution of network problems using Laplace transform; transient analysis;
methods of circuit analysis.

VII. Course Objectives:

At the end of the course, the students should be able to:
1. Formulate and solve mathematical equations that describe resistive circuits and apply the
theorems that are used to analyze resistive circuits;
2. Formulate mathematical equations that describe electric circuits with resistors, inductors and
capacitors;
3. Determine the performance of first-order and higher-order networks under transient conditions;
4. Use computer-aided tools to create, simulate, and verify electric circuits.
5. Familiarize oneself with the different electric and electronic components which are available in
the market.
6. Fabricate electric circuits using EAGLECAD Freeware version.

VIII. Course Outline:

Note: Two lecture sessions are equal to one Laboratory session.
