Structure of Student Time Management Scale (STMS)

Balamurugan, M

March-May 2013

Balamurugan expresses that it is often said that people who can conquer time management will
be more organized, efficient and happy. Students complain that they lack time management and there is
not enough time in the day, tiring them out. Each generation has a way of their own on how they handle
time management. For example, first generation relies on watches to remind then when a task needs to
be done. While on the other hand the second generation uses calendars to set goals. Balamurugan
decided to conduct a study.

The purpose of the study is to develop a STMS for higher school students, determine the
reliability of the scale, and validity. Data was collected from 523 11th grade students on a 6 point scale of
42 statements. Students were told to give feedback based on their preferences of six options strongly
agree, agree, seldom agree, seldom disagree, disagree and strongly disagree. Items were framed
randomly and a sample of 30 students were told to check their applicability. Results show that after
reliability analyses, 28 items were subjected to the factor analysis. This meaning that 28 items in STMS
was capable of effectively measuring student time management. Time is precious is a students life.

Body Language: An Effective Communication Tool

Dipika S Patel

June 2014

There are two types of communication, verbal and nonverbal. Body language is a nonverbal type
of communication through body movements and is 50% or more of what we communicate to others.
Body language is communicated in two ways, open body language and closed body language. In ancient
times our ancestors used open body language to show we are now harm. While on the other hand our
ancestors would use closed body language to hide something. The body is capable of making 700,000
different types of movements, making it hard to understand and interpret body language.
The important features of body language include sounds, body contact, facial expression,
closeness, ways of talking, eye movements, head movements, hand movements, appearance and
posture. The face is the most important part of body language because it is the primary source of
emotion. Eyes are also important because they are invariably involved with facial emotion. Body
movement and gesture help enhance emotion when communicating. This can include things such as a
thumbs up or thumbs down. Over all nonverbal communication will help add or subtract to our emotion
and is powerful to communication.
