Question 1
Question - write your question Notes - summarize notes from multiple sources. List reference
about your topic - what you want to sites with your notes.
find out, why it is important?

What are the different types of There are three major types of telescopes, refracting, reflecting,
telescopes? and catadioptric telescopes.
The refracting telescope takes all the light that misses you eyes
and uses lenses to point all the light to one focal point.

The reflecting telescope uses a concave mirror and creates a

focal point.

The catadioptric telescope is a telescope that uses both refraction

and reflection to function. It uses concave mirrors and convex
lenses to create this optical device.

*Telescopes have helped us see off our visible color spectrum.

Summary of understanding: In your own words, summarize how you now understand your topic. You
may use words, images, diagrams to describe what you have researched.
I learned the difference between the different types of telescopes and what purposes they serve.

Question 2
Question - write your question Notes - summarize notes from multiple sources. List reference
about your topic - what you want to sites with your notes.
find out, why it is important?

What materials will be needed to Upon my research I found that there are really simple
create a telescope? components that are needed to create a telescope. On space.com
It shows what materials are needed to create a simple Galilean
telescope. The materials include a 2 meter long pvc pipe with a 5
centimeter diameter, a 15.25 centimeter long pvc pipe with a 4
centimeter diameter, cardboard, cardboard tubes, glue/adhesive,
a concave-convex lens with a diameter 49 mm, focal length 100
mm, and plano-concave lens with a diameter 47 mm, focal length
2000 mm.

Summary of understanding: In your own words, summarize how you now understand your topic. You
may use words, images, diagrams to describe what you have researched.
There arent very many components of creating a simple Galilean telescope, the materials are mostly
household objects.

Question 3
Question - write your question Notes - summarize notes from multiple sources. List reference
about your topic - what you want to sites with your notes.
find out, why it is important?

How do we add zoom to our lens? After researching how to create and zoom a refracting telescope
and found that there is not a straight answer to creating zoom.
There are many different zoom add-ons that can be added to
create the zoom effect.

Summary of understanding: In your own words, summarize how you now understand your topic. You
may use words, images, diagrams to describe what you have researched.
Add ons to homemade telescopes zoom are not talked about much but they can be purchased to add a
zoom effect.

Question 4
Question - write your question Notes - summarize notes from multiple sources. List reference
about your topic - what you want to sites with your notes.
find out, why it is important?

What lens does a kaleidoscope use? In a kaleidoscope the image is created by a mirrors. The mirror
are put in a triangle(or more) to make the beads give an endless
possibility of patterns.

Summary of understanding: In your own words, summarize how you now understand your topic. You
may use words, images, diagrams to describe what you have researched.
The kaleidoscope uses mirrors to create these patterns. There isnt a lens in this scope it creates an
illusion.

Question 5
Question - write your question Notes - summarize notes from multiple sources. List reference
about your topic - what you want to sites with your notes.
find out, why it is important, how it
relates to building a scientific tool.

What is the difference between a In a Galilean telescope the lens used are convex lens and in a
lens in a telescope and a lens in a microscopes use a convex lens as well. The difference is the size
microscope? of the lens.

Summary of understanding: In your own words, summarize how you now understand your topic. You
may use words, images, diagrams to describe what you have researched.
The lens are the same, they just serve different purposes.
