Third Nine Weeks Project

Spring Semester 2010
Mrs. Hammon

Your third nine weeks project will consist of two parts. This project will be 30% of your
nine weeks grade. You should insure that you give your project sufficient attention.

Part I: Country Background Report

Follow directions for the report that are written on the report paper.

Part II: Developing a Cultural Icon for the Country

After you have gathered and read information on your country you will need to develop a
cultural icon that would best represent that country. (Example: Statue of Liberty or the
American Flag for the USA, Eiffel Tower for France, Big Ben (the clock) for England,
Alamo for Texas, Mt. Fuji for Japan, etc.) Cultural icons represent the culture both human
and physical of a group of people or country. When you have designed your Cultural
Icon, you will place that design on a one-half sheet of poster board. This design should
best represent the country.

Format: The order of your paper will be a cover sheet (you may have a design on it),
Country Background Report (follow directions that are written on the report paper),
maps, essay, and bibliography (work-cited page). This will be turned in with your poster.

The Country Background Report and the Cultural Icon Poster Design will be due on

. Under no circumstances will this project be accepted

late!
