Lees than ever is no longer acceptable to think in a fragmented views about the world in which nature and culture are set apart.
Today, we are required to think in transversal terms. In terms of multiple relations made possible between environmental, political
and individual ecologies. An enormous play of energies integrates the intense ties between ecosystems, mecanosphere and the
extensive universe of social and individual references.

This enormous play of energies is the first moment of the cycle Reinventing the possible/Activating the imaginable. The aim of the
cycle is not only to create a spatial and temporal research, creation, exhibition and discursive approach around ecological matters,
but to conflate those with the political and the subjective, revealing the constant exchange of environmental ecology, social and
mental ecology that introduce the possibility of constructing other forms of relating with and in the contemporary world.

The perception of our present lives is disjointed by the dystopian ghost of the Anthropocene. In order to envision a possible way of
living in the present, it is necessary to imagine the future, not only of where one can live but where one wants to live.

The liaisons between economical and political powers and new environmental paradigms have become increasingly enmeshed due
to the development of technological devices that act as yet another agent in the chain of relations that form the living and the
present. In the text Reassembling the Social: An Introduction to Actor Network, Bruno Latour introduces his Acting-Network Theory
as a rationale that is fundamental to navigate the relations that operate the social in our contemporary and signalling the relevance
of technological development for the understanding of the world. Such development implies that the production of knowledge
concerning reality is based on a network of moving relations and interpretations in a social space where all elements share equal
acting roles.

The natural universe is intimately connected to the social events one lives through. Its sensitive and formal capacities provide crucial
entry-points to think about the development of mechanisms and social behaviours that guide the construction of past, present and
future of mankind.
In that sense, this exhibition relates ideas about the underlying behaviour of nature with the ways we contemplate the world, of
analysing natural forms, the construction of a cultural legacy determined by the weight of history and modes of living under a
capitalism prism, under the evidence of permanent tensions between domination and affection, through the possibility of
constituting a common subjective imaginary.

This play of energies, that Michel Serres speaks about in the text The Natural Contract, (from which the title of the exhibition was
borrowed), requires an holistic understanding of the world. And incites us to move towards an ecology of artistic practices attentive
to a configuration of the world in which all involved organisms participate with self political agency in a conflict between entities that
enable a stimulation of relations between multiple propositions, thus producing knowledge that multiplies the understanding of the
same element.
