Although it should be perfectly fine to connect the pin 1 of 2PIN plug to pin 10 of 18PIN
plug and just replace the 7.5A fuse with 15A one, i decided to do it properly and got pin 1
connected directly to the rear compartment fusebox, fuse 57 with 1.5 gauge Red wire, and pin 2
grounded to the ground point by the bonnet release lever with a 1.5 gauge brown cable. Might
be just me being to fussy, but at least I know it's done as per book.
You have probably noticed that Pin 8 of the 18PIN plug isn't connected to the 26PIN plug
at all - on the IHKA high refrigerant pressure sensor is grounded straight at the common ground
point instead of the control panel itself. As there will be a couple more of ground points
required(for ventilation temperature sensor, AUC sensor, pin 25 of control Panel, water valves,
condensation sensor) i have used 10 pin plug and socket, and soldered all 10 wires (0.75 gauge)
that come out of the female part of the connector onto the 1.5 gauge brown ground wire. I've
made sure that all the grounds that I want to connect to that plug have the matching snap in
receptacles (if not, just solder them on) that will feat into the male part of 10pin plug. That way I
have all the grounds in one place. It varies from what WDS wiring diagram shows, but as I was
making all the wiring from the scratch myself, it was easier to have all wires of the same lenghth.
Pins 10-14 are empty, as LCI cars (or at least mine) hasn't got a solar sensor mounted in
the speaker grill on the dash, but uses the solar sensors integrated with the rain sensor, on the
windscreen.
