Lesson 1 : Difference between each other and one another

Definition : Each other and one another are reciprocal pronouns, meaning first person and second
person are the same each other.

Usage : Each other is used for two people or persons.


One another is used for more than two people or persons.

Example:

Lesson 3: Talking about Weather in English

Definition : Proper English grammar structure and words in using to describe the weather.
Usage :
Questions to answer talking about the weather.
1. Hows the weather?
2. What is it like outside?
3. Whats the temperature?

Answers to the questions above.


1. Its windy day or freezing outside (very cold) or humid gets me sweat.
2. Its sweltering (really hot) or pleasant or cold.
3. Its thirty degrees Celsius or Fahrenheit.

Grammar construction to answer the question.


(A) It is + adjective + noun - to describe the weather as it is.
Examples:
1. It is rainy day.
2. It is a windy evening.
(B) It is + verb (ing) - a type of weather that somebody is experiencing right now
Examples:
1. It is raining heavily. ( present continuous tense nangyayari sa kasalukuyan at patuloy)
2. It is snowing. (present continuous tense)

Lesson 4 : Usage of the adverbs Still, Yet and Already

Definition :
Still indicates an action which is not finish yet. It can be found in the middle of the sentence.
Example:
1. Do you still live with your parents?
2. It is still raining.
3. I took two pills, but I still have a headache.

Yet used for questions or negative sentences. It indicates for something we expect to happen or
has happened. It is used in present perfect tense
Example:
1. They havent met her yet.
2. We still dont know who will be our new boss. The owner hasnt told us yet.

Already to talk about things that are happen sooner than expected. It is used in present perfect or
past perfect.
Example:
1. Shes fixed it already.
2. Have you both already met?
3. Its twelve oclock already.

Lesson 5 : Handy Colorful Idioms

To catch (someone) red handed You catch someone doing wrong or illegal

Lesson 6: Useful Telephone Phrases

In making contact, you may use:


1. I would like to speak to.
2. Im calling from.
3. Im calling on behalf of.

Taking a call:
1. How can I help you?
2. Where are you calling from?
Asking to hold the line:
1. Just a moment please.
2. Could you hold on please.
3. Hang on..(only use for the family and friends, very casual way)

Giving negative information:


1. Im afraid he is not in the office.
2. Im sorry she/he is in the meeting right now.
3. Im afraid you have got the wrong number. (caller dialed a wrong number)

Telephone line has a problem:


1. Your voice is cracking/jarring.
2. The line is very bad. Could you repeat or come again please (formal, use in
business world)
3. Im afraid I cant hear you.

Leaving or taking a message: (if you are receiving a call)


1. Would you like to leave a message? Or Would you like to call back? (more formal)
2. Can I pen down a message?

Leaving a message: (if your are the caller)


1. Can I leave a message for him/her please.
2. Can you pen down a message for him/her please?

Lesson 7: Greeting and Response

Greetings (How are you? Or Hows it going? Or How is your doing?)


1. Fine, not bad
2. Very well, thanks (formal way of answering)
3. Pretty good or Great
4. Im hanging in there. (giving negative response, a person might having a very tough
day)you should add to the conversation by asking Oh, What is the problem?
5. I have been better (giving negative response, a person might not feeling well, or a
person is really sad for something and he/she is looking for recovery)

Greetings (not so formal) (Whats up? Or Whats new? or Whats happening?)


1. Nothing much. (basic answer to give)
2. Oh! Just the usual thing.
3. Oh gosh! All kinds of stuff! (meaning the person is very busy lately)
4. Yo! How dy? (meaning How are you, how are you doing?) response is All right mate
