Instructional Experience:
Fullerton College, Fullerton California (August 1994 to present).
Full time and adjunct instructor of machine tool technology. Department Coordinator of machine tool
program. Teach semester length courses in topics including conventional machine tools, CNC set-up and
operation, manual CNC programming, computer assisted parts programming using Mastercam and
Surfcam software. Tenure status achieved August 2010.

Orange Coast College, Costa Mesa California (October 1986 to June 1997).
Adjunct Instructor of semester length classes in the machine technology program.
Supervise students programming / setting up and operating five CNC machine tools and ten computer
workstations running CAD/CAM software. Design new projects, build fixtures, design and prepare
documentation for students, order materials, supplies and cutting tools. Instructional assistant, work under
the direction of department instructors, prepare machine tools and set up documentation, assist and
supervise students in laboratory activities.

El Camino College, Torrance California (August 1993 to January 1994)


Adjunct instructor of semester length courses. Courses taught include manual CNC programming
and machining related topics.

Special Projects and Programs;


Disney Park Machinist Training Program (2008 to present). Create program course curriculum
for an internal theme park training program utilizing Fullerton College Technology division courses.
Training program is forty seven units and is completed after four years.

California SB70 Quick Start Grant (Spring 2007 through Fall 2008). Lead instructor for
modern manufacturing demonstration. Project consisted of a hands-on activity for high school students
using state of the art of modern manufacturing practices. Project manufactured was a single cylinder
oscillating engine. Students were shown how the project was designed using Solidworks and Surfcam
software. Next, the project was manufactured using, CNC milling and turning machines. Advanced
inspection and quality procedures were demonstrated and used to insure the quality of the components
produced. Project was run on five consecutive Saturdays for five hours each session. Local industry
professionals participated in project demonstrations and advisement.
Fullerton College, instructor for United Auto Workers Labor Employment Training Cooperative
(UAW LETC program). This program provided retraining for machine operators to upgrade their skills by
taking courses in CNC manual programming and CAM programming using Surfcam software.

Haas Technical Education Network, Technical schools representative. Participant in national and
local conferences that focus on manufacturing education concerns.

National Machining & Tooling Association, NTMA member LA Chapter.

Cherry Textron, Santa Ana, California. Strategic On-Site Training (SOST) program (May 1988
to May 1991). Instructor for company sponsored training program. Topics included shop math,
blueprint reading skills, measuring tools and statistical process control. Develop certification tests and
training manuals for measuring tools, blueprint reading, statistical process control, and for company
specific machine tools.

Industrial Experience:
D.F. OBrien & Associates, Anaheim California (March 1997 to present).
Part owner in family owned machine shop. Duties include all aspects of running a machine shop
business. Marketing services to potential customers, dealing with customers, quoting work, determining
manufacturing processes, designing fixtures, programming machine tools, directing employees on set up
and operation procedures, arranging outside processes with vendors to comply with blueprint
specifications. Parts machined are for several different industries. Parts consist of dies for forgings,
machined parts from plate or bar stock of many different types of materials. Work is primarily in the
aerospace, oil tool, and automotive industries. Quality Manager, design and oversee calibration program
to comply with customer requirements, maintain quality manual and procedures.

Alcon Surgical, Irvine California (June 1995 to March 1997).


Senior / Lead machinist for the R&D machine shop. Duties include fabrication of prototype parts,
pilot production runs and tooling for the optical surgical industry. Build and design machining fixtures
and testing fixtures. Supervise and assist engineers and machinist in the machine shop. Prepare work
orders and assist engineers in the design of parts and components for manufacturing.

Impression Die and Tool, Santa Fe Springs California (Summer 1987-1988).


Manufactured and repaired trim dies for the removal of flash from forgings, forging die repair.

SHR Precision Machining, Santa Ana California (Summer 1986).


Program, set-up and operate a Hardinge HXL CNC lathe with GE 1050 controls. Materials
machined were stainless steels and high temperature alloys.

Aircraft Forging Die, South El Monte California (June 1981 to April 1986).
Performed welding operations for the repair of forging dies, performed
structural welding activities for customer and company projects. Maintenance and repair of company
machine tools.
