3. Two particle A and B each of mass 2 kg are connected by light inextensible string.

They are grooved in a vertically fixed smooth ring and constrained to move only
along the ring. The particle are released from rest from the position as shown in the
figure. Find the tension in the string just after the system is set free. (Take g = 10
m/s2)
(A*) 10 N (B) 102N (C) 20 N
(D) 20 2 N

1. In the diagram shown, the larger block is

being moved with an acceleration A = 2g.
What is the acceleration of the 2m mass
block with respect to the earth? (Assume
no friction. Strings are ideal.)
(A) Zero
(B8) 4g/3
(C) 2g/3
(D) None

2. A force F is applied on the wedge due to

which the sphere rises vertically upwards
under constant acceleration 3g. What is the
value of the force F?
(A) Mg (tan + 4 cot)
(B) Mg (4tan + 2 cot)
(C*) Mg (4tan +3 cot)
(D) None

8. The massless inextensible string connecting

the slider A and mass B passes over two
small smooth pulleys, one of which is
attached to A. The ends of strings are
attached to mass B and roof as shown in the
figure. Mass B has a constant velocity v0
directed downward. At the instant when yA

b 2b
v 20
(C*) (D) none

CMP III:Two smooth blocks are placed at a smooth corner as shown. Both the blocks are having
mass m. We apply a force F on the small block m. Block A presses the block B in the
normal direction due to which pressing force on vertical wall will increase and pressing
force on the horizontal wall decrease as we increase F ( = 37) with horizontal. As
soon as the pressing force on the horizontal wall by block B becomes zero it will loose
the contact with the ground. If the value of F is further increased the block B will
accelerate in upward direction and simultaneously the block B will move toward right.
17. What is minimum value of F, to lift block B from ground:

25 5 3 4
(A) mg (B) mg (C*) mg (D) mg
12 4 4 3

18. If both the block are stationary the force exerted by ground on block A is:

3F 3F
(A) mg + (B) mg
4 4

4F 4F
(C*) mg + (D) mg
3 3

19. If acceleration of block A is a rightward then acceleration of block B will be:

3a 4a
(A*) upwards (B) upwards
4 3

3a 4a
(C) upwards (D) upwards
5 5

17. A block 'C' of mass m rests on a smooth table .Two blocks A

and B each of mass m, are attached to the end of a light
inextensible string passing over a smooth pulley fixed to C as
shown in the figure. B rests on C and A can move in a
frictionless vertical shaft. Find the acceleration of C.

In the diagram, m2 can slide on the smooth horizontal surface. The pulleys are small. At an instant the
block m1 comes down with velocity of 3 m/s. At this instant = 60. Find the magnitude of
velocity of m2 at this instant in m/s.
