Capstone Mock Up

Renee Buenaflor

For my capstone project, I chose the topic of equality and diversity. Equality is the state of

being equal in status, rights and opportunities. I have witnessed many inequalities all over the

world this year through news or videos that is on the internet. Many of the videos and news

that Ive watched are topics on gender inequality and how some people claim that women cant

do anything that men can do. I totally disagree that women cant do anything men can do

because women are trying their best to be equal as men but society is not accepting it. People

are protesting and going against the government because they dont believe in the proposals

and laws that they are making. After a bit of research and brainstorming, Ive came up with

activities that can help with my project. I also decided that I will reach out to experts about the

topic and ask them questions about it. Also, I will try to talk to locals on how they feel about

equality. My plan for making this project work is that I will communicate with locals and experts

about my topic. I will e-mail or talk to them in person. I will also try to team up with a fellow

classmate that is on the same field as I am. By doing this project I hope that we can spread the

message out to people.

What Im going to talk about:

What is Equality?
What is Diversity?
Problems in our society (Police shooting [white vs. black])
Gender equality
Racism
Homophobia, the fear of other races (Muslims, Latinos or Asians)
What it means to me? How can people relate to it?

Activities

Pride Parade: People can join in the parade dressed in bright and colourful colours to show
their pride.
Mini Concert: Performers can perform in the concert through music dance or even poetry.
There will be food and you can meet new people.
Gathering: People can gather up in various locations and there will be speakers that will talk
about equality, etc.

I will try to go to the Pride Parade in Vancouver this summer to see how they organized it and
how they can help me to organize my own. I will reach out to locals and others that have
something to say about equality. If its possible to reach out to celebrities or politicians, I will
take the opportunity to interview the via internet or ask them questions through e-mail.
