PROPER RESPONSE:

Verse: GENESIS 26: 19-22

19. When Isaacs servants dug in the valley and discovered a well with fresh flowing water there,
20. the herdsman of Gerar quarreled with Isaacs herdsmen, saying The water belongs to us!
so Isaac named the well Esek because they argued with him about it. 21.His servants dug another
well, but they quarreled over it too, so Isaac named it Sitnah. 22. Then he moved away from
there and dug another well. They did not quarrel over it, so Isaac named it Rehoboth, saying,
For now the LORD has made room for us, and we will prosper in the land.
19.Ang mga tauhan ni Isaac ay nakahukay ng isang malakas na bukal sa kapatagan. 20. Ngunit inangkin
ito ng mga taga Gerar, kayat tinawag niya itong Balon ng Away, sapagkat silay inaway ng mga tagaroon.
21.Nang makahukay uli sila, nakipagtalo na naman sa kanila ang mga taga-Gerar, kayat tinawag naman
itong Balon ng Pagtatalo. 22.Lumayo sila roon at humukay ng ibang balon. Wala nang umangkin nito,
kayat tinawag niyang Balon ng Kalayaan. Uunlad tayo sa lupaing ito, wika niya, pagkat dito tayo binigyan
ni Yahweh ng kalayaan.

Introduction:

Remember last weeks message of the Purpose of struggles

1. Because of sin.
2. Disobedience to GODs will in our lives
3. To Glorify GOD!

This week our topic is all about the Proper Response in times of struggles particularly
struggles of persecutions.
1. People trying to put you down
2. People taking credit for what youve done
3. People giving you disappointments and frustrations when they dont listen to you.

The life of Isaac

Abrahams favored son with wife Sarah

Isaacs went through same challenges and experiences that his father Abraham did (like
father, like son).
1. There was a famine in the land (Gen.26:1)
2. Both lied that their wives are their sisters (Gen.26:7)
3. Both encountered many challenges in their walk of faith.(Gen.26:20)

Purpose for Isaacs struggles same as Abrahams for him to develop first hand kind of
faith
1. Second hand faith faith of parents, relatives, friends or ancestors.
2. First hand faith result of personal encounter with the living GOD.

Isaacs journey towards Christian Maturity

Journey in the dessert need for water for his family, his people and his big flock and so they
dug the wells previously used by his father Abraham buried by the Philistines. (Gen.26:18)

1. First well (Esek) well of argument Balon ng Away (Gen.26:19)

2. Second well (Sitnah) well of hostility Balon ng Pagtatalo (Gen.26:21)
3. Third well (Rehoboth) open space Balon ng kalayaan (Gen.26:22)

Isaacs Response in times of Persecution.

P pause when you feel your about to explode with anger breathe dont speak the first
impulse is always the human response the weak response.

R resist your immediate impulse.

A ask for the Holy spirit to intervene to fill you with His love, patience and self-control.

Y yield follow GODs leading.

D dont react the way the enemy would want you to.

I immerse yourself in GODs presence.

G give it all to GOD.

Summary Concepts:

When troubles come just like Isaac we Pray let GOD move and we Dig do our part.
Respond in Meekness (Mat.5:5)
On the first well he could have laid his claim but did not and instead allowed GOD to show
His mighty power even in the darkest circumstances.
Isaac knew he has no control over the people of Gerar he can only control his own
reactions towards them.
Only GOD can change the heart of a person (Ezekiel 36:26)
Dont be afraid to lose the well or the water if the enemy takes it because GOD is more
than sufficient for all of our needs (Gen. 26:24)
GOD IS MOST GLORIFIED IN US IF WE ARE MOST SATISFIED IN HIM.
