App #1-Rocket Speller
The Common Core Standards this app connects to are RF 2.3 Students know and apply
grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Sub standards say, distinguish
long and short vowels, know spelling-sound correspondences for additional common vowel
teams, and identify words with inconsistent but common spelling-sound correspondences. This is
met because in the app students are learning and practicing letter recognition as well as spelling
patterns (consonant blends and vowel blends). This helps with decoding and word recognition.
RF 2.4 Students read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. This is met
because in the app students are learning and practicing letter recognition as well as spelling
patterns, which helps them recognize words quickly. When students have and develop these
skills they can read fluently. Based on the group of students I have, this could be used in centers
to help students practice letter recognition and spelling patterns.

App #2-Teach Me Second Grade

The Common Core Standards this app meets are 2.OA.2 fluently add and subtract within
20 using mental strategies. This app has quick fact practice, which meets this standard. 2.NBT.5
fluently add and subtract within 100 using strategies. This is met because in the app students
practice two digit addition and subtraction. RF 2.3 Students know and apply grade-level phonics
and word analysis skills in decoding words. Sub standards say, distinguish long and short
vowels, know spelling-sound correspondences for additional common vowel teams, and identify
words with inconsistent but common spelling-sound correspondences. This is met because in the
app students practice sight words and word recognition with basic spelling patterns. This app
allows teachers to put up to 40 students. I could see using this with all students and allowing
them to access during center time (possibly as a choice between other apps).

App #3-K12 Reader

The Common Core standard this app meets is RF 2.4 Students read with sufficient
accuracy and fluency to support comprehension. This is met because students are practicing
reading different texts focused on fluency. If you use the paid version there is a comprehension
piece with each text which would meet RL or RI 2.1 students ask and answer who, what, where,
when, why and how. This is met because students would be answering comprehension questions
after reading each story. If I were to use this in the classroom I would use the paid version. I like
that it has more passages and has the comprehension questions. This could be a center that all
students visit during guided reading groups to practice fluency and comprehension.

App #4-Book Creator

The Common Core Standards this app meets is W.2.1, W.2.2, & W.2.3. These are the
opinion, narrative, and informative writing standards. These standards are met because students
can write one of these pieces and then create a book to share with classmates. This could be used
in a writing center.

This is
met because in the app students learn and practice reading words with specific spelling patterns
(vowels, consonant diagraphs, consonant blends). This helps with decoding and word
recognition. RF 2.4 Students read with sufficient accuracy and fluency to support
comprehension. This is met because in the app students are learning and practicing reading
words. When students have decoding skills and word recognition this creates fluency. Based on

TPACK
By using these apps in my classroom it allows TPACK to be present in my classroom. I
have content knowledge, because each app can be connected to a reading, writing, or math
standard. I know the skills that students struggle with in the class and have found appropriate
apps for them to use to develop the skills they are lacking. I have pedagogy knowledge, to know
how to use the app, implement it in the classroom, and teach the students how to use the app. I
am using appropriate technology that is fun and engaging for students. I can also allow student
choice by giving specific students certain apps to choose from.
