A) MOVEMENTSECTION

1) The speedof the moto$ for the top/bottom(M1)

irclinatiohotation movementsis given by
the potentiometersP2 for Ml, P4 fo M2, P6 fo
MS,localedon theJPI mov.drive microprocessor
cafd.
The speedicreasesclocl vise anddeceases in
ananticlockwisedirection.The speedis adjusted
when the unit is at a stadstill (seetopo$aphical
drawind 69/6/16).

CAUTION: do not inceasethe speedof the

singlemoto too much sinceit is
A syochronizedwith the stopping
uctoconlacls.

2) The motor ramp fo top/bottom(Ml) movement,

inclination (M2.)androtation (M3) is given by the
potentiometersP1 fo M1, P3 for M2 andP6 for
M3, locatedon the JPI mov.drivemicroprccessor
cad.
The speedof the mmp increasesin a clockwise
diection while it deceasesio an anti-clockwise
diection.The ramp shouldbe adjustedwhenthe
unit is at a standstill (seetopogaphicaldawing
69t6t16).
?) The regulationof the compressionforce fom 0
Kg to 20 Kg may be adjustedduing installatitr
accordingto the user'srcquiements.The
force is adjustedby meansof the potentiomete
VRI locatedo the JPl mov. relay card (see
topographicaldrawing 69| 6l 19)-
In a clockwisedirection the force inceaseswhile
it decreasesi an anti-clockwisedirection.It
shouldbe adjustedwhile the uait is at a

CAUTION: When the neasuements arebeing

checked,a soft objectto simulate

mA ADJUSTMENT PROCEDURE

A) Inset the ntA meter(suggestedtype:

Fluke with memory)i rhe testpoinrs 1/2 on
P.C.B.locatedon theH.T- generator(PicturelA).
B) Selectthe kV centralvalue ofthe
kV/mA blocks(i.e.Block no. 6-24kV) -
(seedawingFig.3)
C) Selectthefocalspotto be adjusted(i.e.small
focus)
D) Executea exposureandreadthe mA value on
the mAmete, then act on the dip switch
connected to Block no. 6 with 24 kV - smallfocus
\- (seepicture2).
For little corectionsyou shouldusetheLSB zone
fom I to 4.
For big corecons you shoulduseLheMSB 7oe
flon 5 to 8.

ARNING: For COMET tube with focus 0.U0.3

A mm, In the small focusdo not

hscllt the switch 8. The filament
could tle irreparably damaged.

Repeatthe prcceduresof points B-C-D using the

adjustmentscheduleof
awing fig.3 andthe pictue 2 to executeall the
adjustmetrtsof
focusfor all the6 blocks.

N.B.: During the checkingprocedure,

checkthe valueswith the table of the
load curve of the x-ray tube (Fig. 3).

1 . X-RAY GENERATOR ASSEMBLY

X-ay generatoassemblycanbe divided into 2 groups:

- AC/DC-DC/AC conveterthat includescheckand
contol pinted circuit,AC/DC group (diodesbridge
andfrlter capacitors)andDC AC group
(ScR,commutatilg diodesandcapacito$).
- X-ay getreator

timmers adjusedby manufacturerareitrstalled.

1.1 TEST TO BE EXECUTED ON P.C.B. (see

diagram S10fi)3G)

On checkandprinted cfucuit, that is locatedin the fotrt

side of AC/DC $oup, sometestpoints are ananged.
The fist goup includesTP 8 - 9 - 10 - 11,on which it
is possibleto make a test without feedingthe co[verter.
The secotrdgroupincludesTP I - 2 - 3 -4 - 5 - 6 - 7, on
which theeis a signalody with feededconveter.
TP6 is feededat 0 Volt, all the signalsare attributedto
rt.
Feedingsof P.C.B. arethe following:

+12V PR1 15-16(maxabsorption 200mA)

-12 V PR1 11-12(maxabsolption50 mA)
0v PR1 13-14

The two tirDmerson P.C.B.aeadjustedby

manufactureandit is not necessaryto makea new

order to avoid faults in the DC/AC converter

1.2 TEST PROCEDURE

It is possibleto veiry on TP 8 - 9 - l0 - 11 the exact

conaols sequenceto the SCRof the power inverte. See
the waveform diagam.
After having verified the SCRcontolsworking, check
on TP5 the kV (1V=10 kV) value that corespondsto
the adjustedvalue and on T?l'the mA value
(1v=20 mA).
If the kV valuesdo not coespond within the tolerances
to the valuesset on the control panel, adjustthe
potentiometerPl to compensatethe curve (to level the
curve trend). Usethe potentiometeto raiseor lower
the value of the kV (+/- kV).
FtustadjustP1, then P2 - P1 shouldbe adjustedto
40kv.
The corectandeal value of the high tensioncurve of
thekVp mustonJybe donewirh a divideror high
tensionprobe;eg. voltix matix - Comet.
The potentiomete$Pl and P2 areplacedon the card
fitted into the high tensiongenerator(seethe drawing

The potentiometersPl andP2 arc alwayscalibratedby
the IMS testdepatmelt. For this eason, unlessstrictly
necessay,we do not recommendyou to alter the level
of calibratiorin thesetwo potentiomelgrs.

the grid dependson the aveagetime of the exposure.
A corectexposureis generullydonewith an
approximateminimum of 30 mAs and a maximumof
200 mAs. (Grid run about3 seconds),
The grid is generallyrcgulatedto wok with thesemAs

If on averagethe mAs value is lower, the speedof the
grid shouldbe increasedandthe parking point
modified.
