Performance Activities
Perform a solo or in a small ensemble for a
community group, church service, or public
event (1pt)
Member of PYP, PYJO, AMP (3 pts per
semester)
Regular member of a worship band (3 pts per
semester) (requires weekly rehearsals and
performances)
Perform at District Solo/Ensemble contest (2pt
ea)
Perform at State Solo/Ensemble (4pt)
Audition for WIBC, All-State, or All-Northwest

Auditions for College admissions and

Research Activities
Reports must be at least two typed pages and follow
the MLA documentations standards, which include
12pt times new roman, double-spaced. All
references must be cited.
Research and write a report about your
instrument, a famous musician ensemble,
composer, piece of classical or jazz music or
musical time period (1 pt)
Listening Activities
Performance adjudications need to accompany
proof of attendance.
Attend an outside of school concert (any genre)

Attend a school concert that you are not
performing in (1 pt)
Composition and Private Study Activities
Write or arrange a piece of music (Points Vary.)
Transcribe and memorize a solo from a
recording (Points Vary)
1 point for every 4 hours of recorded practice
time (Practice journal required. Available in the
band room).
Weekly private lessons on your band instrument
or piano (1 pt per 4 lessons. Lesson journal
required. Available in the band room).
Leadership and Teaching Activities
Give weekly lessons on your instrument (1 pt
per 4 lessons. Lesson journal required.
Available in the band room).
Help out in a middle school music classroom (1
pt per 2 visits. Signature of teacher required.)
You may also propose alternate projects to Mr.
McFadden. Proposals must be made at least 2
weeks prior to semesters end.
