IOSH Mentor Scheme

Reward and Recognition of Mentors and Mentee Success

The Mentor Scheme

The Mentor scheme has been developed to support IOSH members in their personal and
professional development.
The scheme is delivered by IOSH volunteers, who share their skills and experience with fellow
practitioners freely.

Reward and Recognition

We want to celebrate the achievements of our Mentors and the successes of our Mentees. We hold
an annual celebration at the Networks Conference, normally in early November.

This is an opportunity for those who have achieved excellent results to be congratulated and
celebrated by their Network Volunteer peers.

It is also a chance to showcase some of the excellent outcomes for mentees, delivered through the
IOSH Mentor scheme.

Best practice
We will give Mentors opportunities to share best practice and either inform or learn from others
delivering the same service.
This will be facilitated through the Membership Team and will be shared in a number of ways:

On-line through the volunteer portal and through connect

In print - through Networks News and IOSH Magazine
In person at meetings and events, and by the Networks Team

Other benefits
Mentors and Mentees will benefit from the scheme in other ways:
CPD Mentees can reflect on what has been talked about, and Mentors can reflect on how
they delivered the learning.
Professional development Mentoring is a transferrable skill, but so is the ability to be
mentored and learn in a collaborative way.
Volunteering Mentors will be supporting people in a volunteer role. This not only
contributes to CPD, but can also be a stepping stone to Fellowship.
