Fundamental freedoms, are your rights. Rights such as freedom of religion,

freedom of press, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, etc. We live with these
freedoms everyday. And such freedoms are talked about everywhere, including
songs. One great song that demonstrates some freedoms and how they are violated
is Who taught you how to hate by Disturbed.

A father's pride, my son walking beside me

I look around and marvel at the child play
In perfect disarray (so innocent)
No judgement, pure exhilaration
What he is witnessing are children, assumably on a playground playing and
having fun, disregarding each others skin color, looks, families and all that. How
this connects to fundamental freedoms is, that they all are having fun together, and
not denying anyone of their rights.

There's always one who plants an evil seed and

creatures here to pull you to the other side
Into a world of lies
He is describing how the children referenced in quote #1 at the moment dont
have, racist or homophobic ideas on their mind, but a few will be taught that all
blacks steal things or, all gays are evil and work with isis. Ridiculous ideas that
only spread hate and prejudice. This connects because fundamental freedoms were
denied for people who arent white men for so long, and that was just in America.
Before the civil war, a very strong majority of the south hated black people and
saw them as useless animals, and the majority of the north literally broke laws to
help them to freedom. This is all tied to when we are younger and more open to
different ideas and are easily deceived and influenced to think certain things.
Tell me now, who taught you how to hate
'Cause it isn't in your blood
Not a part of what you're made
So let this be understood
Somebody taught you how to hate
This has a similar meaning to quote #2, how people arent born with hatred
for one another. And how that those who do hate were taught to hate by someone
who had an influence in their life. This can connect to fundamental freedoms
because its describing that whoever David is singing about they have bias towards
some kind of group, which can lead to discrimination, hate crimes, etc.

Where's the deviant?

The unholy remnant that has made you this way?
Lay before the disdain
What he is asking is, where does it stop? When does the hate and prejudice
stop? When will everyone everywhere be treated equally? This connects to
fundamental freedoms because this can be alluded to white supremacy, and
privileges some have that others do that are caused by, race, gender, sexuality, etc.

They are your rights, know them. They cant be taken away. There are still
places where people are denied service and rights, strictly because of their
sexuality. What David Draimen is trying to tell us is that, discrimination may seem
done with, and that were in a very equal society, which is true for the most part. It
may not be constitutional discrimination, but there are still people that hate all
blacks, whites, women, gays, etc. Purely because of the way they were born.
