NEWTOWN, Conn --(AmmoLand.com)- This past weekend, law-

Gov. Deval Patrick’s one-gun-a-month bill failed to pass.

The Governor’s Lawful Citizens Imprisonment Act (H.4102) never came

work of firearms retailers, law-abiding gun owners and GOAL.

The lawful gun owners of Massachusetts should be very proud of a job

well done, especially considering H.4102 was a top priority of the
governor.

NRA Protects Second Amendment Rights Of Residents In Public

Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)- Gun owners and sportsmen earned

a victory this week as the House Financial Services Committee AMMOLAND.COM
considered and adopted an amendment offered by Congressman Tom
Price (R-Ga.) to protect the Second Amendment rights of public housing NRA-Backed ‘Protecting Gun
residents.

His amendment to H.R. 4868—the Housing Preservation and Tenant
Protection Act—was adopted by a voice vote on Tuesday evening. The 2010′ Passes U.S. House
measure would restore and protect the right to possess and lawfully use AUG 02, 2010 09:56A.M.
firearms for self-defense and other legitimate purposes in federally
assisted housing, and would bar housing authorities from restricting NRA-Backed ‘Protecting Gun Owners In Bankruptcy Act of
residents’ legal ownership of guns. This amendment is very similar to the 2010′ Passes U.S. House
one that Congressman Price offered to H.R. 3045 last year. That
amendment was adopted in committee on July 9, 2009 by a 38-31 vote.

Anti-gun Representative Maxine Waters (D-CA) attempted to amend the

Price amendment with a “second-degree amendment” to H.R. 4868. The
Waters amendment—that would have allowed housing authorities to
impose gun registration requirements—was defeated in committee by a
24-38 vote.

Adoption of the Price amendment indicates that the majority of

committee members understood that a person should not be forced to
give up Second Amendment rights just to have a roof over his head, and
that many public housing projects are high-crime areas where people
most desperately need the right to defend themselves. The NRA has long
fought this battle both in the courts and in legislatures around the
country.

Congressman Price should be commended for his leadership on this National Rifle Association
important issue since all Americans have a fundamental right to self-
defense. Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)-Last week, by a margin of 307-113, a
bipartisan majority of the U.S. House of Representatives voted to amend

(D-Ohio), would ensure that a person who files for bankruptcy would not
lose the constitutionally protected means of protecting his or her life,
family, and home. The bill sets a cap of $3,000 on the value of a firearm
collection eligible for the protection, so people in bankruptcy
proceedings can continue to own serviceable firearms.

National Rifle Association

Charlotte, NC --(Ammoland.com)-The nomination of Elena Kagan to

the U.S. Supreme Court will be decided next week, when the Senate casts
the final vote on her confirmation.

The NRA has announced our strong opposition to Ms. Kagan, due to her
long record of antagonism toward the Second Amendment. Based on
that record, it is very likely that as a Supreme Court Justice, Kagan would
join the Court’s minority that just last month issued dissenting opinions
claiming the Second Amendment does not guarantee a fundamental
right to keep and bear arms.

Elena Kagan represents the second time President Obama has

nominated a person to the Court who aggressively opposes our right to
keep and bear arms. Her confirmation would pose a direct threat to our
rights for decades.
Every vote in the Senate is crucial on this issue. Please take a few
minutes and contact your Senators at 202-224-3121 and respectfully ask
them to filibuster and oppose Kagan’s confirmation.
