Chapter 4

Result and Discussion

This chapter provides the presentation of the results of Interview gathered

by the researchers. And discuss the opinions and suggestions of the participant
about the said topic. This is presented and written in narrative form.

Mrs. Jenny Cheng

(A Teacher with a Heart)

She is Mrs. Jenny Cheng, a teacher in Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High
School, she is 37 years of age, she lives at 36 Manunggal St. Tatalon Quezon City,
She was teaching 19 years of her life, She definitely love to teach, Shes now
teaching Grades 9 &10.

Ms. Mariel Yvonne Batino

(Caring Teacher)

She is Ms. Mariel Yvonne Batino, 21 years old, She live at La loma, Quezon
City, a Fresh Graduate Student who passed the board exam and now teaching
in Global Minds Academy in Grades 4,7,8,9 & 10.

Ms. May Cerbito

 (Dedicated Teacher)

She is Ms. May Cerbito, 42 years old, she lives at Frisco, Quezon City, shes
23 years on experience in teaching, and shes now teaching Grades 9 & 10 in
Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School.

Mr. Arnold E. Rama

(A Responsible Dad)

He is Mr. Arnold E. Rama, 53 years old, a teacher in Josefa Jara Martinez

High School in 19 years of his life, and he lives in Binondo Manila

Jasmine Boral

(A Open Minded Girl)

She is Jamine Boral, 17 years old and lives in Payatas Quezon City, She is a
simple student in Josefa Jara Martirez High School and she is grade 11

Filipinos youth today are most experience sexual activity during their
teenage year even as early as grade school, and mostly during high school. The
sad thing is that they are not knowledgeable about sexuality and even their
reproductive health. Their lack of knowledge has led to a compromise of their
behaviors and their mindset on sensitive issues such as homosexuality, pre-
marital sex and the like. It is important for parents and adults to stress unto them
the critical function of making responsible decision.
 According to Mrs. Jenny Cheng sex education is Itinuturo dapat ng
tama and she also said that it should not be restricted to discuss with the
students so that they will be aware of any circumstances regarding sex. And she
know the sex education Sa pamamagitan ng mga seminars, pagbabasa,
internet, google.

Mrs Cheng said that in their school there discussed about sex because she
said mas mabigat na usapin yan na dapat iclarify ng maigi sa mga bata
and she said that the sex education is already include in the curriculum also on
the book and guidelines of the teacher na dapat ipahayag ang tungkol sa
sexualidad o sex education. And she said that she has also learnred much on
discussion along with her student regarding on their problems encountered
about sexuality

Accoding to Miss. Mariel Yvonne Batino sex education is tinuturo dito

ung syentipikong pagpapaliwanag kung paano nabubuo ang isang baby and
she knew it through research, books and articles.

Miss Batino said that sex education is not yet a subject but its discuss in
subject sociology in grade 9 students, and in grade school she only discuss
reproductive system. In this discussion she knew that sex education is more
about family planning and not literally how sex goes. She also knows that in the
near future the sex education is not yet approved by the DepEd or Ched
because the church is against to it.
 According to Ms. May Cerbito sex education is ..ay pagpapahalaga sa
personalidad ng isang tao lalong lalo na sa kanyang reproductive system at
higit sa lahat kaisipan kong paano niya mapapalawak ito. And she says that as
a teacher you should know it first so that you can teach it to your students.

Ms. Cerbito said that they discuss sex education for the credits of their
students to teach them well for their safety and to protect their selves. And
based on Ms. Cebrito she learn from the study that sexuality is for matured
persons only and students is strictly be aware to prevent disease. She also says
that sex education is there but we need to expand it, for preventing Teenage
Pregnancy, and HIV Virus.

According to Mr. Arnold Rama sex education is ang pagmumulat sa

mga kabataan tungkol sa kanilang sexualidad at sa kanilang kapaligiran sa
pakikipagsalamuha sa opposite sex babae at lalaki. And he knew it by Social
Media, TV Broadcast, Radio and to the teenagers.

Mr. Rama said that as a Parent you should have talks about sex education
at home but as a Filipino or in a religious group they not talk about sexuality
because they believes that its not appropriate or not in legal age to discuss. So
that sometimes teenagers learn it from their classmates or media .He also says
that this topic is very sensitive so that be aware for how you discuss it. Although
some Psychologies says that dont make Paligoy-ligoy and be direct to
the point of presenting some materials about sex education. And for him as
Catholic the church is close in this issues but for him it good to discuss because in
social media you will see all the information you want to know, so that the
government or the Department of Health is liable for this discussion.
 According to Jasmine Boral sex education is ito yung tinituro para
maging aware tayo sa kapaligiran natin And she knew it by social media.

Jasmine Boral said that in their school they discuss sex education like
Condom, and other Contraceptive. The Teacher discuss it and said that dont
be green minded because it the natural thing of saying it. And she said that
Maging aware tapos wag pabugsobuso ganun. And based on her shes okay
by adding sex education in curriculum because some of juniors are green
minded while the senior or matured one is know how to manage.

The Advantage of sex education in school is being given increasing

importance as it is known to inform student about issues related to sex and
sexual health. And disadvantage is even more harmful as incorrect information
is extremely lethal as it can actually leave a wrong impression on the students.

According to Mrs. Cheng she was actually approved by studying Sex

Education to explain clearly and justify the contents of Sex Education. And she
also said that if sex education will be added as a subject it will explain well to
the students, its importance and how to manage things about it. She says that
kung maipaliwanag man ng tama hindi din maganda ang epekto nito sa mga
bata.

According to Ms. Batino Sang-ayon ako in a way na para advantage

or benefit ng mga kabataang katulad ninyo and for the awareness of the
students to dont try and dont be curious about this topic and to expand the
knowledge of the students about sex education.
 She also said that maybe at first students may laugh if sex education
becomes a subject, but it depends in the teachers, on how strategies they
have, to open up the minds of the youth about sex, because sometimes youth is
thinking malicious thought if sex is involved. And she said on her last words
pero sex totoong natural na bagay na ginagawa ng taong magasawa.

According to Ms. Cerbito she agree about sex education because

para na rin sa mga bata para sila rin sa kanilang kalusugan. She also said
that if Sex Education was added in the curriculum the students will credits most,
at first students are aware what sex education is importance, second to improve
people on how they actually thinking, to people to know that in the near future
family planning is the best way for their futures growth.

According to Mr. Rama he says that even if hes a Roman Catholic he

believes that Sex Education is the right thing to do, to stop adding population in
our country, as government they are responsible to control the number of the
population here in the Philippines, So that sex education is not a crime but is an
open minded process of what sex goes by.

He also said that the young people will be open in any experiments, and it
also depends on the teachers on how they teach and emphasize sex
education. And he says ikaw ay may sapat na kaalaman lalo na ngayun
laganap ang mga sakit so dapat maingat kung hindi talaga maiwasan dapat
gawin lahat ng protection.
 According to the student named Jasmine L. Boral, she is approved by
adding sex education for awareness. And she thinks that if sex education has
been done teenage pregnancy have a smaller counts than the other year.

Case #1

Mrs. Jenny Cheng, a teacher in Dr. Josefa Jara Martinez High School, she

tao lalong lalo na sa kanyang reproductive system at higit sa lahat kaisipan
kong paano niya mapapalawak ito. And she says that as a teacher you should
know it first so that you can teach it to your students.

Ms. Cerbito said that they discuss sex education for the credits of their
students to teach them well for their safety and to protect their selves. And
