CHAPTER I
Introduction
Nowadays, teenagers tend to be more lenient. Most of them are more irresponsible as if
they are already teenagers they almost forget how to handle themselves in different kinds of
situations. People should be knowledgeable about this matter especially the parents, one way to
be aware on this is to determine and understand the different kinds of parenting. These styles can
be a big help to the parents it can be their guidance and reference to their growing children.
Parents have a very big role in their childrens lives. Some of the parents dont really
have a good relationship among their children due to some reasons. A parent and child
relationship is very important because this can be a way to sustain their emotional needs; it can
also help them to more open to their problems and needs. As a parent instead of comparing,
hurting and discouraging them we must support, love and teach them in good ways and the
parent must be open and accept their childrens weaknesses and strength.

Chapter II
According to Dr.Joseph Mary Venus, and Jilly John. (2008). Modern society is giving more
importance to parenting styles. It represents the different approaches parents use to raise their
children. This paper looks into various kinds of parenting styles followed by families. Modern
parenting is mixed with various issues. The root causes of majority of the mental health problems
arise in adolescence are related to parenting styles. Most parents use a variety of styles
depending upon their culture and societal demands. The patterns of parenting styles and their
impact on child development are explained in the paper. The impact of social changes on
childhood in India derives attention. Parenting style needs change according to the changes
taking place in a society. Influence of social class on the selection of parenting style is also
discussed in the research. Good parenting is parenting that prepares children to meet the
demands of the specific culture or subculture in which they live. We can nonetheless draw some
conclusions about the ingredients of good parenting that will apply in most settings. We can go
far in understanding which parenting styles are effective to prepare the children to meet the
society. Darling and Steinberg (1993) defined parenting style as overall climate of parent child
interactions. It is an affective context of sorts that sets the tone for the parents interactions with
the child. Parenting style is a determinant factor in child development. It affects psychological
and social functioning of the children. Parenting style is largely affected by the influence of
ones own parents. Temperament, educational achievement, culture, socioeconomic status and

Research Design
The researcher uses the qualitative type of a research approach wherein the researcher will be
focusing on some common methods that includes focus group(group discussions), individual
interviews, and participation/observations. The respondents are chosen to fulfill a given quota
that will result of finding the percentage of the effective parenting style among grade 7 students
