CLIMATE CHANGE IN PERU.
Over-accumulation of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is a major cause of
climate change; Droughts, floods, hurricanes, typhoons, cold waves and even the
processes of tropicalization and desertification are bringing with them a series of
socio-economic consequences in some South American countries such as Ecuador,
Brazil, Peru, Bolivia, Chile and Argentina.
Likewise, in several areas of Peru, food security could also be affected by the decline
in water resources; Places where additionally, diseases to crops would increase.
On the other hand, the increase in sea temperature will produce changes in the
regime of marine currents, causing the acidification of marine waters due to the
dissolution of carbon dioxide CO2 from the sea, which will subject various marine
species, being the Anchoveta one of the most affected.
It is worth noting that part of the problem of climate change in Peru is the lack of
knowledge of the populations and authorities about their causes, effects and
adaptation measures on the subject, which translates into the exclusion of the issue
in the political agenda Of the Peruvian State in its different levels of government,
thus contributing to the increase of negative effects such as those mentioned.
