The San Andreas Movie was a good educational movie based on a natural disaster and how it
could affect many lives and cities. The largest earthquake ever recorded before the San Andreas
will go off was in 1960 in Chile and it was a nine point five on the rector scale. It lasted eleven
minutes and after to earthquake it caused a tsunami to go off, the highest point it reached was
eight two feet high. The tsunami was eight thousand miles away from Chile. The San Andreas
Fault, sits on two tectonic plates that sit and rub against each other constantly. In the movie, it
represents if the San Andreas Fault was to go off. The fault is over due to go off, its not a matter
of if it will go off, its a matter of when will it. In the movie, the Hoover Dam is the first thing to
get hit by a large earthquake and it destroys it completely. There was a young man who was
running to safety when he caught a glimpse of a young girl who was sitting in the middle of the
bridge unable to movie because of the shock she was in. In a split second, he ran towards her and
picked her up and ran towards safety. He ended up throwing her to safety and he passed away in
the rumble. He showed so much humility in a short, confusing second.
After the Hoover Dam earthquake, it was proven that the whole San Andreas Fault line was to go
off in a matter time. Today we still have active swarms in Nevada that get stronger and stronger.
It would work itself up from the bottom to the top. In San Francisco an earth quake goes off and
lasts for a few minutes. It registers at a nine point one and to give more another one is to happen.
The San Andreas fault line is overdue by a hundred years that there was so much friction built up
that not only one would happen another one would follow behind it. If the epicenter is close
enough together then it is possible for more than one earthquake to happen in the same area
around the same time. The specific name for that is an earthquake swarm. The whole plate will
shift instead of just rubbing up against each other they just get out of each others way. If there
was one to happen in California, you will be able to feel it on the east coast. That is across the
United States.
Imagining what movies say or what scientist say is hard but the more and more evidence that is
arising, the more I start to wonder just when will they be right. Because they are right its just a
matter of when it will happen. Shock will cross my mind when it does happen even if I have all
the knowledge and heads up possible. An earthquake that size will make records and will destroy
many lives that no could save.
